well i don't race myself but what i did was take out my steering servo and use it for my throttle-brake and used a hitec 645mg servo for my steering have had no problems and has improved steering alot!!!

look into Futaba BLS servos. Very strong and fast brushless digitals that recenter extremely well and have very fast reaction time. They are pricey though.

You can also go with Ace, JR, AE, even Hitech servo's just be willing to pay for them. Your gonna want high torque/oz numbers with high speed numbers at a 6v power supply rateing. I would say at least 200 oz of torque and .15 sec speed at the lowest for a really tight track. You want to be able to throw the truck around and keep it in the direction you point it with minimal over powering of the st servo. My rule of thumb is bigger is better when it comes to st. servos.

Get ready to spend $100 to $150 for a good one.
