So I have had the savage x4.6 for about a week. I added a couple goodies, went over all the hardware and Finally making time tomorrow for the break in and first-time running. I have watched several videos and read different ways to break in property. I don't want to screw anything up. So should I follow the instructions from the manual or what? I imagine HPI has there way for a reason. Thanks and hope this isn't a silly first time question. Just want everything to

Just take your time with everything. The more thorough break in you do, and the more care you take, will pay dividends in the end for performance and longevity of your engine.

Here's a lengthy tuning guide with heat cycle instructions from an engine modifier from back in the day:
Ron Paris Tuning and break-in Guide

I downloaded a version of this many years ago and it was formatted really badly. I just spent an hour making it a bit more legible. The "Break In" section starts on page 9.

Yea, i always suggest the heat cycle methond over the old methods (like letting it idle on a bench for a tank). The old methods can acually damage the engine if you run it too rich for too long.
