Hi, am new to this but am wondering if someone can help me.
I was trying to take out the glow plug and I kinda messed up the threading on the actual block.
So now when i try to put the glow plug back in, it just wiggles since all the threading is stripped.
Do i need a new engine or just the top?

Most engines have what is called a "Head Button" that the glow plug screws into, so you will need to put in your engine type and model into a search at e bay or somewhere and try to find a new one, take out the 4 long screws holding on the head and the button will be right under the heatsink head..... careful of the shims there you will need to use them on the new button....

@Samuelmpagi - Make sure you get the metal shavings out of the engine from when the threads got stripped out while you have the top off,
I know they are aluminum but they can still cause damage to it.

which engine is it, it does make a difference, looks like an earlier 4.1 or 4.6 but is hard to tell by your pics.....

I don’t know the kinda engine I have. Can you tell by the pics?
And do you think I should bother with it or just get another engine.

does look as if it has been put away wet and dirty a few times. I would think about a new :ercm: for it if it is in your budget...

@Samuelmpagi FIRST THINGS FIRST I just noticed Profile Pic THANK YOU FOR YOUR SERVICE !
Now If you can post a Pic of the Cooling Head AND how many of the brass gaskets that were under the "Head Button " that would give better idea of what engine , Dose look like " Nitro Star F4.1 Engine " as has Purple carb and no Mid speed needle . Here is pic of my F4.1 .
Head Button Part # would be HPI 1448 . ( Just don't by from Active Powersports ,You will never see part. )

Sadly there do not seem to be many to choose from any longer, LRP is still out there as is Force/Ofna, Dynamite, Losi Novarossi does also offer a couple , make sure the one you choose is equipped with a pull start or roto unit, some are bump start only and will physically fit but you have no way to bump start those...... most .28 to .32 to .36 fit with no issue also, Good Luck and post what you decide to go with...

All I hear is gibberish, lol,
I don’t know what you’re talking about.
Just got into this and I don’t know nothing.
So what do u think I should go with?

It is gonna take some research on your part, LRP is a good easy to tune :ercm: some of the guys swear by them, I have an Axial .32 in my Savage, but they are no longer building/selling :ercm: Dynamite and Losi do still offer :ercm: also, if I were brand new to the hobby I would most likely go with one of the LRP because they are easy to tune for the most part and have great power, I would also recommend using alloy clutch shoes on it because they do work great and last a long while, all your parts (Flywheel and mount) on your existing engine will fit the new engine without issues, get yourself a bottle of blue locktite and use on any screw that goes into metal....

Yep, any of those are gonna be a great fit in a Savage
be aware that more power means more breakage on things like differentials and gears though :)

What savage do you have? The cheaper 30 is plenty engine for a 25 or X. It would be enough for an XL as well, but it's longer so more power can be used in it without being so twitchy.

I have a LRP30S2 (older version) in my savage x. Plenty of engine for that truck. I've had 4 or 5 LRP28's over the years and they last a long time while not being too annoying to tune and they put down good power.

I don’t know which one I have. But I’ll attach pics

My wife got me a trx 3.3 but the fly wheel on my old one doesn’t fit .do I need to buy a new trx 3.3 flywheel and clutch or?
Thx

A TRX 3.3 will not fit in the Savage, it needs to be a big block :ercm: the TRX 3.3 is actually considered a mid block engine.....
