With winter now here thought it was time to dismantle, clean & service my collection. Did the 5.9 XL Yesterday. now both the Bounty Hunter Trucks are done. Nothing major to fix or replace just a few screws here and there. Replaced the shock oil in both. both mills stripped, cleaned and oiled ready for the winter lay-up. Did need to shim the 3 speed tranny in the F4.6 thou way to much end float on the top and bottom shafts & huge wobble on the gears on the centre shaft. An extra 0.2mm shim next to the flange bearing sorted this and a 0.3mm shims on each end of the top and lower shafts. 3 down, 3 don't need cleaning so along 5 more to go. Think it will keep me busy over the holidays.👍😎

Like spanking new as always mate! 👍🏻👍🏻
Well you know me mate, I do like a clean ship shape truck.
Just had a text from Evri and looks like the new 35kg steering servo for the new bash build will be here today so that will keep me busy later fitting and setting that up. hopefully will get the new gearbox from Luke sometime before new year as posted it 24hr yesterday. Fingers crossed.🤞🤞

Nice!!!🙂 What do you use to clean them?
I do strip them down completely, very nut and bolt, remove all the bearing then use a solvent free degreaser called Elbow Grease. This stuff is very mild but will remove any grease, oil, dirt. Then everything gets washed in hot soapy water, rinsed in cold. I then spray all the plastic parts with silicon spray and buff dry. This also stops any metal parts from rusting like the dog bones. Brings everything up like new. All the black screws like the axle hub ones get a coat of matt black spray.
I do think it's a bit more than a hobby for me, more like a passion.👍

Awesome, I love to take them apart and think of ways to make them better or improve a weak point. I miss the days you could buy the kit version instead of the RTR. I like it we people tell me that won't work and I figure it out.

Yes I must say RTRs are pretty boring as the assembly in one of the best parts. Also they were a very good way to get to know your truck from the off.
Well another one stripped, cleaned and serviced today. Did my orange ally K4.6 Ell Camino, Fitted a new 35kg steering servo to it, which was meant for the new basher build but thought due to the mega weight of it and the large tyres it would benefit more from it as the basher will be all plastic with set of the old GT tyres on GT5 rims. The 20kg servo I removed will now go in the basher, will be more than up to the job. Other than that had a little play with the throttle\brake linage as wasn't happy with the angle of the throttle bellcrank causing the throttle cap screw to hit the fuel tank when on max opening. Other than that it was good to go. Only 4 more to do now.🙄😒

Damn, those trucks are T
Damn, those trucks are TOO clean, I mean I also clean mine but you have cleaning down to an art, although you did miss some dirt on the tires.... :eyes:
:lmao:
LOL @ Jamo. Yep I do like a clean truck mate. Only problem is I never what to take them out and get them dirty. Anyway if I wasn't cleaning trucks I would have to do the housework and I anit doing that.
No to be honest I just love to ticker with them and when I ticker I clean as well so it's pretty easy to keep them looking like this.
Not a day goes by when I'm not fiddling with something on them, it's a real passion I have with them. They keep me broke & keep me busy. Nothing I'd rather waste my hard earned money on. Always something I need to buy, don't really need it just don't have it. LOL.😎😁😉

Anyway got to clean my kitchen up now, looks like a car workshop, tools and savage bits everywhere. Been a well productive day. 1st job tomorrow is to fit the steering servo to the new bash build and dial in the radio gear. Sure while doing that will find something else that needs doing.

Well another one down. Only 3 to go now. This one was pretty quick to do as only build 4 months ago and used 3 times. Did change the wheels over with the LCG build so now this has a set of 150mm ZD red metallic rims and the LCG has the gold Trendz Terrahex rims on it. Added 10mm limiter to the shocks to remove the preloaders, changes the oil weight to 50wt. Changed the exhaust silicon couple and that's about it.
