hey all,

hope we're all well ...

i've just been having a good think about my next upgrade for my savage 3.5 and i've decided on getting a decent steering servo ...

i've been looking at this fella ...

a Hitec Hitec HS-965MG Coreless

http://www.modelsport.co.uk/?CallFunction=ShowSpecification&ItemID=25353

this is pushing my budget a little at the moment and i'm eventually going to match it with a better throttle/break servo but i thought that a steering servo isn't something to skimp on!!

any thoughts on this upgrade idea?

That Is A Nice Steering Servo I Run That One On One Of My X Ss Basher Trucks. You Will Like It Good Steering Power.

woow thats a lota bucks for a servo in a basher truck......how bout a hitec 645mg

The 645 in a great servo for your truck. I had one in mine and it was great and I had no problems with it at all. The only reason I changed it was for more power and lower transit time, it was also $120 for the JR that I have. Get the 645, you will like it!

i did look at that one as well ... the specs are a quite different between the two ...

645mg - 9.6kg 0.20 sec

965mg - 10kg 0.10 sec

i guess its also worth saying that i'm less of a basher than a bit of a off road racer really ... not into flinging it around a BMX track bashing thats for sure!

the 645 is £30 and the 945 £47

what are the specs on the standard HPI steering servo the SF2??

thats a pretty good endorsement again ... i think you guys are right ... the 645 will be more than enough i guess ...

leaves me with some excess vouchers to play with too ... its been a nightmare trying to work out what to upgrade!!!

thanks ...

You are correct bud! I did up grade to the jr only to get the max steering power out of the truck. I tend to race on pavement so the added torque helps. If your on dirt the 645 is fine. I was using the futaba 3305 and it was doing the job but I would kill them in no time.

Oh and I almost forgot that most of the specs you read will rate the torque at 4.8 volts and not 6 volts like the Nmhi packs most of us run. You can expect more torque at the higher voltage.
