Starting Savage SS

I have a very old HPI Savage which has never been run in from new. After many years, I'm now in the process of starting it but although all fuel lines are clear as is the carb. I cannot get the engine to run without continually pumping the air bleed valve on top of the fuel tank. All settings are as the recommended manufacturers default. However, I'm using fuel which is 2 years old - could this be causing the problem?

Could be an air leak in air bleed valve. I would use fresh fuel on the break in process.

Can now confirm - new fuel solved problem!
