Slipper question

I have a Savage 25. Yes, old model but I bought it as a display at Hobby Town so it's virtually brand new. I've run 5 tanks during break in and maybe two after. The slipper was really slipping when I goosed the throttle or when I was against something the truck should easily climb over. So, I tightened it down a little and it was still slipping and really slipping at high end. So, I tightened it all the way and still slips. So, I'm sure it's poo now. Is there an upgrade that will fit or is the stock fine and I just messed it up? I've looked online for upgrades and all I find is Flux and X/XL upgrades. Are they the same?

just disassemble it , clean the pad mating surfaces and install a new pad... tighten it down all the way and back off 1/8 a turn. should be good to go after that is done..... make sure to inspect the spring and locknut good, if they show wear or the spring is collapsed just replace them....and I do believe the x and xxl are all the same....
