Hello savages, my octane throttle servo just died I think? I switched connections and steering worked with throttle but that’s it and I just put a set of Louise tires n rims on the old girl was gettin warm up runs in to really start bashing and she stopped and just idle what is a good servo to get this is my 1st full year of bashing and knock on wood my octane isn’t doing too bad has some issues but doing ok now other than the throttle servo not working all help will be greatly appreciated thanks everyone

The 0231 is a bit slow for throttle/brake. Regardless, I only buy waterproof servos these days.

I usually ran something with around 200oz/in for t/b on a MT, since braking takes a bit of effort.

At 6V, this one is pretty good for speed and plenty of torque, also waterproof:

I run one of these in my outcast for steering. Total overkill for t/b, but a decent servo for $30:

Thanks for all the help gettin new one this weekend

This one did not do well:

The holding power is strange. I can rotate the output shaft about 1/8th turn before it holds if I lean on it. I pulled it out of my outcast and likely won't use it.

I bought the red version to replace it or have on hand for when my savox 1202 dies on me:
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07GH3PDLR

Supposedly, the red one is good, but it is a bit slower. I tested it as well and it's holding power seems more stable. I think the red one is a normal cored motor whereas the blue one is coreless. Coreless should be better/quicker/more efficient.

I made a video of the comparisons:

Not overly scientific, but you can see how the blue DS3225 allows the output shaft to move when I force it. It's too bad really as it was very quick and strong when in motion, just wouldn't hold a stationary position very well.

Thank you very much for the info and the vid I have got a lot of help since joining this forum.....would a servo that is 90 degree turn work for the throttle on my octane????

Never had an octane, so I don't know how much throw it needs. I think a typical servo swings 160 degrees. 90 seems a bit narrow.
Gotcha I am still learning lol but def love the hobby lookin for a good electric truck now but don’t want to break the bank any suggestions????

Budget oriented, arrma:
Arrma Kraton 6S for a longer truck.
Arrma Outcast 6S for a shorter truck.

Less budged friendly, Tekno:
TKR5603 1/10 MT kit for a smaller truck that is capable of running 1/8th electronics, I think most stop at 4S.
TKR5602 1/8 truggy kit for a larger truck on 6S.
- both require all electronics, tires/wheels, paint for the body

Arrma's tend to need $150 worth of stuff to make them pretty durable. Alloy chassis braces and a M2C 7075 chassis will go a long way. They usually also need the diffs pulled, cleaned, re-shimmed internally and on the ring/pinion and new oil added.

I don't know a ton about the Tekno's other than they are supposed to be pretty good out of the gate. Both have a dedicated forum you can go to and read up on. arrmaforum.com and teknoforums.com which are sister sites to this one and RCTalk.com.

I've had an outcast 6S for over a year.
