Second run and game over for now

Took the savage out for a second run this afternoon and the wheel came off as it’s lost a nut.
😔
17mm hex conversion kit on order just need find suitable replacement wheels and tyres now.

did you order all the SHD dogbones n SHD diff cups as well ? I orderd just the 17mm hex at first the realised actually add to spend double again

No I haven’t gone for the full conversion. This is what I’ve ordered

Ye that’s not anuff pal the dogbones will pop out you gotta get the SHD dogbones n diff cups did same fing masen mate it’s possible to jus use the 17 mm hexes but wot last just under £200 to do it all props wot engine you got ?

Yeah I was going to try the ones I’ve ordered and if they fail I will go down that route with new dog bones etc.

Making sure each wheel-nut is torqued down is one of my last pre-run checks.

Knurled back 17mm nuts are much better at staying tight then the 5mm nuts that retain the wheels on a 14mm hub.
But it's always best to test...

Funnily enough I had the wheel off to re glue the tyre back on.
The nut felt tight and wouldn’t move anymore. Still come undone.

Over time, the nylon's ability to "lock" "self-locking" nuts tends to diminish on nuts that get tightened & loosened a lot.

Those wheel nuts handle a lot of torque and that combination (torque + on then off then tightened) causes failure (or just loosening them).

What really bites is when a loose nut causes the metal14mm hub to wallow out the wheel's plastic, and your tire is now junk.

I lurk, but I've been busy with the SWRCCC winter champs. Haven't done much with my Savage over winter. Spring is here, and the last round of the championship is at the end of this month.

However.

I've done a 'thing'.....


Chris Wilkinson from Mardave supplied me with one of these Chapman Edition MD24 'Carbon'. It's quite a little rocket. 😅


I've been racing 2WD and 4WD buggy on carpet since October last year and I'm doing alright. 😁





I was a bit late to the party with the B7, but it certainly works. Even with me driving it! 🤭
