Yes it is possible. HPI had a kit just to to that, but it is discontinued http://www.hpiracing.com/en/part/102534 and Integy has one http://www.ebay.com/itm/Integy-Brus...224606?hash=item21032d5a1e:g:k~cAAOSwEeFVKAmo but I am not sure of the quality. Also Kershaw has a kit http://kershawdesigns.com/SavageBrushlessConversion.htm. Others may chime in on how to do it.

it depends on your definition of serious modding.
you will need to change/add the following.....
motor mount
battery tray( can be bought or made, there's a couple different ways of doing it
spur gear
tranny( needs to be changed to a single speed, or you could install a center diff)
motor and esc
on a side note, you could get some of that money back by selling the engine, clutch, throttle servo, and tranny.
