Bought a savage 1/5 5b chassis couple months back,
Then got a savage X on eBay
It came with the proline wheels and Trenchers, an OS30 engine and heap of spares,
I've super 5sc front and rear skid plates with body mounts,
And a baja 5T bodyshell to get started,

The aim is to turn the brushless chassis to nitro,
Il post more pics as I get more done.

Got a bit more done to the truck,
Got the engine mounted, driveshafts made up and welded,
All the throttle and brake linkages put on,
Relocated the receiver box and redone the steering that used to be attached to the bottom of the receiver box,
053 Pipe mounted,
Ofna wheel extenders fitted front and rear,
Front and rear body mounts and new skid plates from super 5sc,
Just to extend the steering linkage and fit the side body mounts,
Paint and sticker up the body,
An hopefully try it out next weekend
I've a modded lrp30 motor I may fit to this truck as its nearly too much in my lst2,

Interested in how you welded the driveshafts!

I thought a conversion like this would come with the driveshafts the right size? Or is this a custom kinda conversion?

The driveshafts are cut dog bones spliced with hollow steel tube and gas brazed,
they are very light weight and really strong,
I’ve tried bending them and the original
dogbone at each end start to bend without any issues with the brass rod braze welds
I just bought the brushless chassis plates from eBay on their own,
and had to remove material, drill and file to convert to nitro,
But would very easily convert back to brushless,

To me brushless is a little bit boring,
I’ve had brushless truggies running on 6s,

Savage flux’s HP and XL flux,

I just favour the run times and more mechanical side of nitro,
And Not having to have multiple sets of lipos.

I’ve converted my brushless truggy back to nitro,
The truggy is way more exciting to run on nitro power and can run multiple tanks of fuel without switching off

Up graded the gearbox from a stock 2 speed to an all steel 3 speed setup
Along with front and rear bullet proof diffs

Fantastic project sparky with good end result, fair play to you! ??
What clutch set up are you using out of interest please?

I’m now running 16/52t clutchbell and spurgear
its a lot faster and gearing Is now better suited
I’m running a long life dynamite 3 shoe alloy clutch with 1mm springs

Fitting a new force 36 motor today when it arrives and changed out the wheels,
The original clutch is still fine after nearly a gallon of run time,
The all steel 3 speed is fantastic with no issues,
Hit lucky when building it, I didn’t even have to adjust the shift points?
Oh and fitted the super 5sc rear bumper

I have 3 of them, 1 in an xl, another in a trophy truggy and another in a cen gst, total pleasure to do

So how was the break in on those?
They were great, started good, Idled through the whole first tanks without cutting out, easy to tune once they were broken in, although 1 engine has develeped a small issue when i fill it with fuel again and then i pull off it cuts out once it gets 20 feet away from me but that is probably just needing the tune tweaked a bit as the other 2 don't do this. The lsn i never needed to touch in any of them as they were good where they come from the factory (except maybe the issue 1 might but i put a different manifold on it before i had it out last time so it would make sense) but the hsn needed richening from where they were from factory and i need to retune slightly when running at sea level and at altitude as my 2 favourite spots 1 is by the seaside and the other is up in a quarry and they needed tweaked a bit going from 1 of these locations to the other, its not an issue but its fact and I'm being as thorough as possible with this review, would i buy 1 of these engines again definitely as they are cheap and good have plenty of power and I'm not racing so don't need to spend lots more on something i don't need. I have also been out with them and run a whole litre of fuel through an engine tank after tank and have never cut out once

Good to hear & thanks for the update, found mine had a very slight air leak round fuel inlet brass nipple.
Engine seems to be settling down each time I use it with only 2.5lts through it now! ??

I’ve broken in at least a dozen force engines over the years, some have a lot more pinch than others,
My last f36 was a nightmare as the piston kept locking in the liner,
Even with the glow plug out I had to turn the flywheel with a screwdriver to get it freed up each time,
This new force 36 that arrived yesterday actually doesn’t lock the piston in the liner so break in will be much easier To do,

I got the steel 3rd speed gear from a company in Germany about a year ago and just got around to fitting it,

i was worried running it may kill the rest of the gears since there isint a weak link there but if your not having any issues that does put my mind at a bit more at rest

New baja 5t shoes and New F36 engine,
First tank ran through
And ready to be driven and tuned over the next half dozen tanks of fuel

Mate, if you don't mind, could you please let me know which Germany company you got the steel 3rd gear from? I keep breaking the plastic one and would love an upgrade.

So will it be possible no move the tank between the tvp’s?
I’m running a much larger than stock Cen Gst Fuel tank,
It’s given great run times
It I have no intention of placing it between the tvp
As where it’s located I can refuel without removing the 5t bodyshell
So can run multiple tanks before shutting the truck off.
