Hi my name is Gareth and I'm new to this forum.
I've recently found my savage 25 in the back of the garage and decided to get it cleaned up and running.its in pretty good condition seeing how long it's been in garage. What do I need to replace to get it going ? Any ideas would be greatly appreciated

@Garethlm74
LIKE VINIE SAID NEW FUEI, GLOW STICK, GLOW PLUG.
I WOULD ALSO SEAL YOUR ENGINE TO ELEMINATE AIR LEAKS .
I WOULDNT TOUCH THE CARB SETTINGS I.M.O. , IF IT RAN GOOD BEFORE THEN don't MESS WITH OTHER THAN MINOR ADJUSTMENTS. don't BE SUPRISED IF ONE OR BOTH OF YOUR SERVO'S ARE DEAD. AND REPLACE THE AIR FILTER . HOPE YOU GET IT RUNNING AND HAPPY RIPPING.

A glow starter that actually works. And keeps on working! 🤩

Decent fuel. It's not cheap at £50 + shipping.

Check your old engine. It may look like this inside.

Give it some TLC and a nice new clutch.

Check the gears and diffs - re-lube.

I used a HiTec large horn. It's got a little 'give' in it, so it's more forgiving on the throttle/carb - but is burly enough to lock the the wheels.

The main issue is getting the linkages bent to shape to ensure the best possible mechanical advantage - especially on the brake lever. 👍

Ye mate that’s why I’m switching to a longer plastick 1 So I can av throttle n brake on separate holes the aluminum 1s bit short n all bit compact it’s ok but not good anuff fo big blasts nice 1 bro

Nice find! 🤩👌

They look 100% identical to me. I wonder if GPM now make the flywheels for them at 35, 36, 38mm sizes etc? 🤔
I did email seller asking if they are same spec as the Fioroni ones but he couldn’t confirm, but did say the springs are 46mm long & shoes are 11mm thick x 18mm long with the brass washer 20mm wide with 5mm centre hole size!
Have measured a set I have & pretty much the same size!👍🏻

Strange though as while I had callipers out measured what I thought was a worn set I have kept with a fairly new set of shoes & they measure pretty much the same so can’t explain while this old set was slipping, at the time I just swapped them out for new set?

Glazed shoes - or more likely - contaminated clutch bell, perhaps? 🤔

I was in the same position, even though I always look after my engines I still had some rust so ended up replacing bearings and doing it all properly. Its surprising how things deteriorated, air filter, tyres, all needed replacing. But kept me busy and out of trouble for days 😇

Good work on the hottest day of the year so far! 👍🏻
Engine temps were good - STS was 262°F and Novarossi was 260°F.

More than anything, I'm super impressed with how drivable the Savage is at speed, the cornering and how nimble it is. It's not just a straight line machine. It's still a Revo killer. It would literally eat rival MT's on grass tracks in the UK - and it still would! 😎

There's still about 17 minutes left before it will play on YouTube. I highly recommend waiting for the UHD version 4K @ 30fps.

Amazing how stable the footage is with camera fixed to body shell I take it, what camera are you using?
The video is stabilised and I generally run 4k @ 30 FPS, although I could probably up that to 60 FPS.

I use a DJI Action Cam 2, with DJI mounts. The one that's great for RC cars is like a gummy ultra high bond, which is perfect for lexan.

Obviously, on tarmac, the way you drive has to be considered with a £300 camera perched on top, so I use a magnetic case for protection.

I like to use filters in bright weather, but as they just hold on with magnets, if the protective case is already fitted, the filters aren't held firmly enough for RC cars or drone use.

I'm just super impressed with how stable the Savage is. It corners like a touring car! 🤣👍

This is why I never ended up fitting anti roll bars. 🤔 But - I'd be very interested to see if they improve the handling without impacting the balance of the rig?
