questions on a new to me truck

Sweet, truck would not steer today after I finally got it started, the duratrax hump pack charger i used smoked up on me when I used it today. I don't know if the pack was fully charged? The strating rod would not grab so I cleaned that up and it took forever to start. I did have the truck started the other day but at that time had no receiver function. The joys of buying used RC's... I guess?

ya low batts tend to not let the truck steer very well . would the wheels turn if they were in the air? as for the starting its probably the one way bearing behing the backing plate

It took off and luckily died out before doing damage..

If your engine isn't running right, go back to stock settings and re-tune the engine ::
K5.9 Factory settings

HSN: Flush with groove
LSN: Flush with case
IDEL: 1 mm

Change that POS R5 glow plug HPI gives you for a Mcoy #8.

I personally don't like the rotostart, i swapped out that rotostart the first day i got my savy for a pull start

and number one rule when turning on your transmitter and receiver, you ALWAYS turn the transmitter (handset) on then the receiver (the switch on the savage). Doing that will decrease twitching and loss of frequency.
That being said make sure all your batteries are charged up and your ready to bash =D
