Hi, I'm new to HPI trucks and brushless in general, but I have experience from when I was a kid in the 90s.
I bought a HPI Savage XS for my son. I noticed almost directly that its very hard to control its going left and right and trimning doesnt help.

One thing i noticed is the car is very imbalanced. Which can be why its hard to control.
The tolerance is very high, even after i have tighten the screws that the manual references. Please see this video.
Also these screws are just going around cant be tightened, and I haven't over tighten them.

Here is the result with. Wheel mounted. Very shaky as you can see

Any advice or ideas? Thanks

Tires could have a flat spot from sitting. Suspension under a load may behave differently. My Savage X models have play in the suspension.

I ordered some shims and a wheel Balancer. I hope thats the right action to take 🙂

you can make an inexpensive wheel balancer from an axle, hub and lower control arm. glue everything straight and screw it to bench

I bought new wheels and balanced then 2 of 4 didnt need balancing. Huge difference

So took out the Savage for the first time on its new balanced Louise MT Rocks 2.8" and it was like completely new car, full control.

Worked flawless both on 2s and 3s. ECS seems to handle the larger wheels just fine. Might need to tighten the slipper a bit though.

Must sing prase to those Louise tires. Took it out on wet concrete tonight at the local skatepark, very good traction. The stock ones, not so much
