F4.6 is a newer motor, though both are discontinued.

The number relates to the engine size (displacement):

f4.1 - 4.1cc
f4.6 - 4.6cc

Typically as the displacement of the motor increases, so does its power output.

To cut a long explanation short, bigger number means "bigger" engine.
Just remember - there's no replacement for displacement! ;);)

Are you looking into getting a new motor?

no but the manual that came with my savage says 4.1 on some of the pages at the top of the parts list not sure why because I have the 4.6 motor unless the parts can be used on either.?

The parts between the savages that have been released are very similar if not the same. So yes, sometimes a part can fit many variants and models.

I haven't been around the savage game as much as the others on this forum. But from what I gather, you have the savage 4.1 model and the motor has been replaced/upgraded.

Did you buy the savage new or was it a 2nd hander??

It was brand new when I bought it.. its completely stock it has had less than a gallon of fuel worth of run time before it was put in storage
