If you don't like gluing tires to wheels Maximizer Products has 3.2" Beadlock wheels ( http://www.maximizerproducts.com)
As for tires I still use the HPI GT or GT2 tires , can find on EBAY/ AMAZON for $25-$30 a pair, just make sure they come with the foam inserts. Hope this helps.

I used to run the original hpi gt tires on my nitro savage. Seemed like a good blend of big enough to absorb hard landings and not so big that they were too much for the clutches

I'm really liking my 40 series 3.8" trenchers. I like them more than the trencher X's. They are a bit taller than the X's, but the X's are so wide. The extra sidewall and whatever foam they use really softens the landings.

I was running traxxas 3.8 t-maxx tires, but wanted something with a bit more cushion and traction.

You can sort of see how the maxx tires compare to the old school savage GT1 tires here to get an idea of how much larger the trenchers are:

May need to gear down a tooth on the bell.

I like them so much, I got a set for my brushless revo as well.
