Hi,
I have an old Savage 21 that has a nitro star .21 bb 3.5 engine. It sat up for several years an dis seized up. I cant find a direct replacement so does anyone know if the HPI nitrostar f3.5 V2 will work (or anything else)? Any help would be greatly appreciated

Thanks for that! I did notice that where my throttle connects is on the opposite side of all of the other motors. Is this an easy fix?

Get the “ track star 28 “ I was able to clear and the motor mounts to fit it , starts first 2 pulls , super powerful recommend 3 shoe clutch, engine is 80$ new , I even adapted my roto start to it. It is a turbo head , I’m on 2 quarts same plug I was able to get the integy 3 shoe clutch with flywheel and it bolted right up

I've gotten quite a few good deals on ebay from ppl who sold their trucks with "seized" engines. Most of the time in my experience they are not seized at all in a sense that the engine got so hot that the piston/cylinder began to gall or scuff badly. What nitro fuel does when it sits in a long time in an engine is the nitromethane evaporates away and the remaining castor (or whatever) oil in the engine & crankcase dries up into almost an epoxy-type glue, giving the impression that the engine is seized, when its actually just really stuck together. Then the next common mistake is to either forcefully yank on the pullstarter, breaking it, or ppl with grab the channellocks, crank on the flywheel & bend the connecting rod. Do NOT do these things. Take your carb, backplate, & cylinder head off, get some KROIL penetrating oil & soak everything with that overnight. Then GENTLY, by hand, slowly work the flywheel aliitle at a time to free-up your engine. Once thats done, disassemble the engine fully, clean & reassemble. I've recovered many engines this way that were "seized" 7 considered junk by the previous owner. KROIL is an industrial oil, not available in any stores, only online. It's by far the best oil for doing such things with engines in my experience. Works excellent for cleaning as well. Good luck with your project!!
