So I have an X. And I want to mod it.

But I don't know where to start.

So can some people suggest some simple mods that are good and will improve, well, anything at this point really.

If you can, suggest a specific product please.

Thanks in advance guys!

I agree, throttle/brake mod, and upgrade the stock steering servo are good places to start.

Servos i would recommend depending on budget
HiTec 645MG, HiTec 5645MG, ACE DS1015

1) OFNA Throttle / Break linkage mod

OFNA LINKAGE KIT ~ OFNA 1O721 --> http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LXBM03&P=7
OFNA LINKAGE SLIDERS ~ OFNA 1O7O1 --> http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LXBL82&P=7

If you don't like the colour yellow just use Rits clothing dye, to change to any colour you want rockout

2) Fast Lane Machine Extended Lower Center Of Gravity Twin Vertical Plates ~ FLM 451OO --> http://www.fastlanemachine.net/proddetail.php?prod=FLM45100&cat=22

3) Fast Lane Machine Steering Drag Link ~ FLM 48OOO --> http://www.fastlanemachine.net/proddetail.php?prod=flm48000&cat=22

4) HPI 3- Speed Transmission ~ HPI 87218 --> http://www.hpiracing.com/products/en/87218/

Besides all that if you don't have a HUMP PACK that is a MUST and if you have the stocker radio and receiver get a FAIL SAFE ~ OFNA 91002 --> http://www.ofna.com/failsafe-micro.html

That should keep yah going for a bit and all those parts can used to convert over to a OFNA 250cc MID-TANK CONVERSION !

ofna throttle mod is a good cheap mod to start with

Thanks. I'll look into it.

Thanks. And the budget is wide open. I have a great job during the summer and I can get pretty much anything that meets my fancy if I want to.

Thank you very much! The 3 speed is something I have been wanting since I didn't get the XL.

Quick question, whats the mid-tank deal? And the hype about it.

I can look through threads if you don't feel like explaining and just want to post a link.

Savage has a problem with the stock tank size and location, it causes the motor to run lean when the tank gets half empty, also know as the Half tank lean, the midtanks are custom mods that members have came up with to add new tanks in better locations to get rid of this Half tank lean issue

I can see that. Half tank puts the fuel level below throttle height. Removing gravity from your fueling aid.

I have been wanting a bigger tank too.

Oh no worries..
Um pretty much your moving the stock 160cc fuel tank from the rear and buying the OFNA 250cc fuel tank part number OFNA 19504, and get a make a servo plate (http://www.platinumrcproducts.com/prc 125.html) for the tank and then re-locate the throttle servo to the rear where the stock fuel tank was and using the OFNA linkages kit and sliders you rig up a "custom" linkage from the throttle servo to the break and carb ECT !!

You then move the steering servo down onto the right TVP (twin vertical plate) using the FLM 46OOO servo mounts and then if you have a HUMP PACK you zip tie it to the front shock tower oh and warp the battery in a balloon or some thing along that line (wink wink nudge nudge) then your pretty much set, you get an extra 90cc of fuel and this will eliminate the MID TANK LEAN issue..and distribute the weight through out the truck...

wow that's alot of words.. LOL

that is one of the situations, the design of the tank also creates an uneven amount of pressure in it depending on the fuel level, there are several different routes you can go here to change this, all depending on how much u want to spend and custom mod, get ideas from others and try something new :)

I personally have done and use the OFNA 250cc mod, CEN/Mugen mod, and a custom one using a D8T tank and a "project box" from radio shack.

lol SavageX seems were giving the same advise :)

I'm going to have to ask for better explanation of those mods down the road. But for now, I think I'll be happy with what I have already had spoon fed to me. haha

Thanks guys. Definitely gonna get started on changing her up this week.

You will have a BLAST if you do this build..
You will need some little odds and ends to complete the build. like ..

• M4x15mm flat head machined screws x2
• M4x10mm flat head machined screws x2
• Duratrax 3mm O-Rings x10 - DTXC4208
• Hobbico 6" Futaba Extension - HCAM2000
• Integy Blue Antenna Mount - T3883BLUE
• OFNA CNC Aluminum Servo Horn - 10731
• OFNA Fuel Line Clips - 10270
• OFNA Posts & Spacers - 30287
• HPI Engine Mount Braces - 86068 (these you will have to drill and tap out to 4MM for the screws.. there already at 2MM i believe..

Yeah if you want take it easy and think it over and maybe do the OFNA throttle / break mod on the stock savage x set up and the hump pack and fail safe (you want your savvy in one piece when you start your build :lmao: personal experience)

All the explanation you will need can be searched in the MidTank Mod Section, but basically start off with something that you think will improve your driving style, weather it be steering mods or suspension improvements, to more power and durability... we cant decide these things for you :) well we can, but whats the point of the hobby then...

What M0rphin3 said :lmao: but don't buy from your Local Hobby Shop they rend to add 20% - 50% of what the actual item is -.-

Not sure about yours but mine charges about 50% more then what the item is worth..
$5 online $10 at the LHS ...

Looks like your going to have a nice truck by the time you get all the stuff on it.

You shouldnt get wheel extentions, or extended a-arms. You should try a set of Spi Racing Wheels.
http://www.spiracingwheels.com/2009/mtwheel.htm[/URL]
they are WAY better then any other wheels.They don't bend,strip.or break. They are made out of 6061-T6 Aluminum. you can get them 14mm or 17mm with the small hole or big hole.They have a 1 inch offset!! No more turning over when you go into a corner, You almost have to turn the truck over on purpose to roll it. Even if you were to bend one or strip it or break it, send it back and Spi will replace it for FREEE! I am a Spi team driver, I have been driving for Rick since April of 2008. I love the spi's. I have bashed them as well won with them several times. I have never bent a set. They are good rims for just about everything. Shelf queens,racing,bashing,pulling,Anything!. They go for 95$ for a complete set of 4, You will not ever have to worry about desroying another set of rims. All you have to do is get a set and bolt them on. No moding for them to fit or anything. They are defintly worth every penny.
Here are some pics of me hold some trophy's frm winning with spi's and some pics of my trucks.
