Okay, so I started out as an electric guy. I've been running RC10's that I've been building using parts off e-bay. I started getting slightly interested in Traxxas electrics until I bought a used Rustler (not VXL) off e-bay. It was slow as molasses. So I quickly resold my purchase. Then my buddy (who races truggys) got me into nitro after finding me a used Savage which I then bought for $200.
Background out of the way, now for my rant...
My truck has been apart more than I have been running it. First I couldn't get it tuned and running for the life of me. Then, when I got it tuned, it wheelied and broke the motor plate. Fixed that and then it started eating spur gears left and right. Once I got that figured out (and once all the spur gears came off of backorder) and changed clutch bells I can't get my shift points right. Then I had no brakes. Then my brakes seized up. Then I took the whole truck apart and it sat in peices for over 2 weeks. Then I put it back together (with new disk brakes which I still can't seem to get set right) and I start running it... until I lose the adjustment screw for the brake linkage. I fix that by using a pencil eraser in it's place and drive it again. I jump a curb at work and it stalls when it lands. I check and notice the spur ripped through the fuel line. I fix that, jump the curb again and it stalls again. Can't figure out why. Restart it and finally run into the a/c condensor at work popping the front A-arm out of the hinge pin (it didn't break, don't ask me how) and shoots loose the driveshaft to the front right wheel. So again... once again it is sitting on my workbench instaed of running like it should be. I forgot what my point was but thanks for letting me vent.

LOL that is too funny!!!

I can say that because it is like reading my savage biography. I had the same thing going on but I can assure you that it does get better.........eventually. And when it does it is sooo worth it. Good Luck and don't give up.

your A arm is broken!!!! look at it close. It has a mold joint in the center of the hinge pin hole. It split right there. If you spread it with a driver of some sort you will see it . Thats why it will now spit dog bones... a metal rod wont magically pull thru a solid piece of plastic. Physics apply here and it is broke. Now hop off the soap box and get a new arm. and make sure you did not bend the pin too. LMAO good luck ~Justin~

P.S. curbs are not jumps they break more trucks than most things combind... and don't hit things head on. No model is that tough.

sounds like me too!! I got my savage used as well, for 200 bucks. I went through all the stuff you did if not more. As frustrating as it was, I slowly rebuilt the entire truck and I now have a great reliable fast fun truck. Ya, I could have sold it and got a new one, but where is the fun in that?!

Yeah it's broke. The reason I didn't think it was (and because the crack was hairline) was that the arm only popped off the front off the pin. I could see how with enough force it could flex the.. bumper.. point is it's broke.
And the curbs were just the small rolling lip type ( ___/ ) that look like a tiny half-pipe not the "hitting a brick wall" type ( ___l ).
I don't run into stuff like that... not on purpose anyway. :retarded:
So how much are a good set of RPM A-Arms?

lol I was just making fun with ya, not of ya... I run lst's so I use the old savage arms and can't answer that price ? but Ill put a link to this in the shout box and some one will answer that soon! Ive seen allot of people over look that crack and once you said it tosses dog bones I knew. Once again good luck!

welcome to the world of rc nitro!!!
You will ahve these issues untill you run through them and start learning how to avoid the problems in the first place.
There is nothing like first hand experience in this hobby. The trial you are going through are what makes this hobby so unique and fun. Hang in there, as you get better and have more knowledge it will get easier.

All the problems you are having is basically cuz you bought it used. I'm not sayin that with a new truck you wouldn't have those problems, but less likely. Main reason being, you don't know how it was taken care of by the previous owner. The RPM A-arms are definately worth the money. Trust me I know first hand, plus they have a LIFETIME warrenty against breakage. If one does break or bend, send it back for a new one for free, well, plus shipping. Once you have all the bugs worked out from it being used (ans possibly over abused by previous owner) it will definately be worth the time and effort. And by the way, if I haven't said this to you yet, welcome to the forum. Take a look at my damage thread and you'll see how tough the RPM arms are. Look at the pics in post numbers 20 on page 2, number 30 on page 3, number 36 on page 4. Not shown in the pics in post number 20 is the bent Ti hinge pins.

You can get all the RPM arms from a guy on ebay pretty cheap. Shipping was pretty fast too. It was my first ebay purchase and I never regretted it.

I can't seem to find him right now but I'll keep an eye out for ya. The whole thing was around $45 shipped. P.S. Don't give up on it just yet, trust me, the savy is an awesome machine!

I just bought 2 complete sets of RPM A-arms, $9.95 a piece from RCboyz.com, JUNERC is a 5% discount on their www site. Or go thru ebay, your choice.
