Main Gearbox

I just picked up a savage 25 it came with a new spare gearbox and a reverse module, i fitted in the reverse, but does the main gearbox run dry with no lubrication? Not opened the one on the truck yet.

the gears in the box should have a light coating of grease

forgot to add, don't use oil, the oil will just fly off due to centrifugal force

Cheers for the reply, how would you recommend application? Paint them with a small artists paintbrush ?

I use old artist hard bristle brushes....after my youngest daughter has re-shaped them from painting. That and some marine lithium grease.

I used white lithium and an old toothbrush to spread it in all the gear teeth....

Thanks Guys, appreciate it, I did put a little grease on all the teeth with a paint brush last night, looking at that photo though, I may have been a little conservative... I may put just a touch more on them.

I'm waiting to see what mess I have in my gearbox......I put 3 times as much as jam did. I may have some cleaning up to do
