Took the savage out for a blast to check the c/bell mess was right after the engine mount moving out of alignment slightly & chewing up the spur gear!
Half a tank in & the savage had no forward drive anymore, took g/box apart & found the idler gear had exploded.
Luckily the fragments had not damaged any other gears & I had replacement idler gear to fit back, annoyingly replacing this gear is the hardest as you have to take g/box right out of savage!
When I went to fit replacement 111167 31T idler gear I found it would not fit onto my existing gear shaft, luckily I had another g/box with I take it newer gear shaft in which fitted.
This idler shaft is the original part from when I converted it to the 3 speed so has done pretty well & can only assume HPI for some reason changed the design of this hence why the newer idler gear would not fit?
