Hi all,

I'm a complete noob and have a savage xl 5.9 GTXL. During the first 2 tanks of engine breaking in the cars wheels were turning alot on the stand. So I turned the idle screw counter clockwise and this helped the idle.
I then ran the car in a field as per the manual on half throttle. Suddenly the car stopped working and I noticed the glow plug had gone bad. I also lost the idle screw at this point but noticed the next time I started the car.
All I remember is that the idle screw had a hex cap top but I cannot seem to find the replacement anywhere.

Sorry for the essay but does anyone know the correct idle screw part for my nitro? I can't find it anywhere in the parts list or online. The ones I have found online don't look like the Hex top I had in mine.

Any help on this is greatly appreciated

Thanks
Kash

Danke
Kash

Thanks guys I've managed to figure it out! Due to me being a complete novice I realised it wasn't the idle screw I lost but the carb pin! I've sourced a replacement and all good now.

New issue I'm having is that the wheels turn alot on start up, I need to check my brake settings but I also need to check the clutch springs too. Learning every day!

When you say wheels turn a lot on start up is that with truck off the ground or sat on ground, either way sounds like idle is to high & needs turning down?
So when u start the car, whether it's off the ground or on the ground the wheels turn. They don't turn ferociously but the car does want to run away if on the ground.
Or It could be the throttle trim is set too high on the controller when I got mine it was set all the way up

I would check the throttle trim on the controller mine was the same way and it was set all the way up when I got it I just turned it back to a little over 1/2 way it’s the th knob of the arrow is all the was to the right try setting it back to around 1-2 o’clock position see if that helps

If you start your car on a stand, the wheels will spin—that's no problem. You might even find the revs increase slightly, but that’s also normal. Just apply the brake on the remote, and that should sort it out.

Your idle doesn't need to be too high. If it's idling while standing on the ground, it should almost want to start moving forward. There's no problem with the wheels spinning when you pick it up, so don't worry about it—just enjoy your truck!

Thank you! The issue is that when I apply the brake it stops but as soon as I let go they turn again. This is the same on concrete! (Without the stand) I'm enjoying the truck though despite this! I've got it working now

This appears to be okay as it was turned down but even if I turn it down further it doesn't stop the wheels spinning
