Brand new hpi savage xl flux v2.
Started driving and directly smoke came out.
By tighten the slipper clutch I fixed the smoke issue.
But now an absolutely horrible sound comes from the gears when driving and there is a lot of tear on them.
What do I need to do?
I tried with a fully locked slipper and with no nut at the end of the slipper at all but both times I got the same result, I have no idea what to do.
Hope someone can help me with me car.

Remember there always corner cutters on assembly lines so double check evfing hpi are slacking real bad these days hope you get it sorted mate

For some reason, some Savages come with the 16 tooth pinions without any heat treatment, this means the steel is not hardened, it's soft. The same happened to me. Judging by the pictures, seems to be the problem. The spur gear seems to be also soft steel. Just order a new spur gear, and a new pinion. There are tons of brands making pinions, in my opinion the best ones are made by Tekno, they use really good quality steel and the grub screw is M5.
Look for Part#: TKR4176

Ah okay, well I have no idea how to get the spur from the shaft. And the car is basically brand new. Shouldn't I sent it back to the shop and ask for a free repair?
I do still have my warranty.

Also in case they don't wanna fix it do you have a recommendation for which spur gear?
do you have part number for that?
I am kinda a noob so I really apricate the part number you send.

It's up to you, do what better suits your interests 👍

Yeah I am sending it back, when the teeth's touch each other while riding sparks begin to fly and small metal shards are flying around. Is this what happened to you too?
I btw was not successful in taking the spur gear off, I have no clue how in the hell you take that thing off it feels like its soldered.

I could notice mine doing some sparks at night. But on mine it was just a bad pinion.
Now it makes sparks too, but it's when I'm driving on dirt, it's tiny stones being crushed by the pinion/spur gear. The teeth on both my pinion and spur must have more than two years by now, and neither has any wear at all.

Wow that's amazing, can you send me the part numbers for your pinion and spur?

I already posted the pinion part number, but here it goes again: Part#: TKR4176
As for the spur, I'm using a different system. It's called Alza Racing Center Diff Kit.
I have the previous version, Savage GTXL- 1, for you the part code is: HPI-116357

Thanks for your reply again!
HPI-116357 this is just the stock one, I want a better one like the one you use, will yours fit on mine or do you know one that is better quality that will fit on the v2 slipper clutch?

Mine won't fit, I don't know any aftermarket replacement for that... but a replacement of the original one should be just as good... As I said before, this was just an error from the factory; the gears are supposed to be heat-treated to make them stronger, you just got unlucky with a bad one.

Your gears are torn up! Looks like your transmission has ingested debris, but either way, you need new gears. The slipper clutch is the least of your worries.

No debris has gone in it, I have driven like 1 minute on grass, the gears insteadly started to torn them self apart sparks flying out and smoke even, the truck is completely new.

Thanks! I have contacted the store where I bought it because this is unacceptable. Thanks for you comments man, it helped a lot!

The gears could only look like that if something physically was jamming up the transmission and you continued running the truck in spite of the horrible noises.

My guess is that a stone has entered and jammed where the pinion and spur mesh.

Physical damage like that is highly unlikely to be covered by warranty (warranty only covers manufacturing defects) but please let us know how you get on.

If there was a chipping jamming the mesh, it would explain why you had smoke coming from your slipper.
