Hi!

I want to replace my crappy plastic spurgear to a metal one but I am a bit pussled what parts I need. I was looking at a HPI tutorial page and in this page they state that you need a complete set of parts (HPI 86807)

However I did find these parts locally in Sweden. Will they bolt on directly onto my Savage or do I need any other parts (for example the purple thing to the spurgear as comes with the HPI 86807 set as per above?

I did this upgrade when my slipper got embedded into the plastic spur. You will need a new slipper clutch pad for your new spur gear. I used this time to also upgrade to the ceramic hd slipper clutch

As far as the hpi kit you mentioned, the purple part is part of the spurr (makes spurr lighter for racing it (aluminum)) the one u linked is solid and no need for the purple center

The bell is hardened steel. Standard bells are not and a steel spur will tear the teeth off them in short order even if shimmed properly. So, if you buy a different bell later, make sure it's HD or "racing" as HPI coined it. Other companies make it easier and just call them "hardened" vs not.

This was a standard bell used with a drill steel (hardened) spur:

Lasted about 1 tank on my big block t-maxx at the time.

I have the 47T version on my X with a 17T HPI bell:

Yes, it is very important to make sure that you have a HD pinion if using a steel spur.

I have now been using the steel spur (47) and HD clutch bell (16) for a gallon and it works like a charm. Feels so assuring to have this instead of the plastic.
