gear box upgrades

Hello, I'm working on building a gear box for my XL5,9. I would like to upgrade the gears so I can get more low end torque and high end speed.( stock 5.9 motor /3 speed ) What gears do i need to replace ? I would like to replace them with heavy duty / upgrade / aftermarket parts . Thanks Pat

not to sure if your going to get both out of it. i think when people change gears it for torque or for speed. you will have to play with different sizes until you come up with what you like. i think i run s 47 and 16 which is more for top end speed.

Hi espdgonzo, Did you replace the gears in the stock three speed tranz? If so what gear was replaced the 47 and what gear did you replace for the 16 . If I'm looking at all the gears that are in the three speed tranz. there are NINE of them Thanks Pat

you can replace one of them i believe. i would have to look back. the gears that are mostly played with are your clutch gear and spur gear.
