Afternoon guy's. Man this new Axial .32 is giving me a hard time breaking in. I'm at the 3.5 tanks now and my problem is starting it after its cooling down I'm doing heat break in. My glow plug is charged up nitro is going to the carb and the glow plug is new. Its my first time with a pull start but I've heard you can feel throught the pull start when its flooded. What are the symptoms? Cheers!!

the pullstart doesnt pull anymore..... lol
The fuel in the cylinder will lock the piston untill the plug is removed to release the preasure.

I like to heat my engine up before each start till it has a couple gallons through it. Especialy when its cooler outside. Shoot for 120F+ with a hair drier or heat gun.

Also don't listen to HPI and prime the engine till there is no air in the lines. Only do it till the fuel just gets to the carb.
It will start first pull, I can almost guarantee it.

The weater out here is 0 maybe just above freezing. So your saying heat up the engine with a heat gun up to 120F with the fuel just at the carb it should start first pull? Could the cold be my problem with a new mill? Cheers!!

YES! lol
The engine is all shrunk up from the cold. Making it hard to pull and hard for the fuel to get to temp and ignite properly

Heat the engine and cut the top off an old sock to put over the head. If its long enough to double up thats even better.

Than prime the engine just to the carb. Its ok if there is still air in the lines.

And start that baby up. I own nothing but Axials and they are a great mill. You will be happy with it.

The main thing that I do to mine is seal the mid range needle up. But you can do that at another time. After they get a couple gallons through them that needle likes to start moving on its own. Either all the way in or further out. I almost beat my kids when I found thet both of my engines had the needle screwed in. But found out later that day when I ran them that they did it themselves.

I loctite the threads and seal it closed with gasket maker.

Hey Oregonmud, your advice is excellent!!! I went down stairs heated up the mill up to 125f with the nitro just to the carb and it fired up on the second pull. thank you so much!! Now.. the only thing is its my first pull start and I had it for just a few weeks and now I ripped it right off.:istupid: Do I need to replace the whole pullstart or can I just put the rip cord back on? I tore it clean from the bottom god I fell stupid!! Oh as for the mid range should I just leave it at factory setting? or will I need to adjust it before I seal it? I'm used to the 4.6 its my first three needle mill. Sorry to harp so much Cheers!!

You don't want the mid range needle ever move. So whats the point of it? I have no idea...
Look at the angle the notch is and how flush the needle is to the housing. Just make sure to return it there. Its not as hard as it sounds.
as for the pullstart cold starting is very rough on them with a new engine. Also if you are pulling the cord out more than 12-14 inches its hard on it. If the cord is broken off and its not too much shorter you can just rebuild it. A new cord in only like $1 and it ensures the cord will last a little while longer than re-using the old one.

Hey guys... can anybody tell me what the stock position of the mid range needle is? I had a screwed up carb that I needed to fix, and when I took it all apart I totaly forgot to check the position of that needle. I have my High speed needle tuned, still need to work on the low. But I have the mid range set flush with the carb body. Is that stock like hpi motors?

Its an older axial .32 btw.

Should be flush I would think like the .28. I haven't had a .32 though so I don't know for sure.
