Hi guys, for my birthday i really want to get a 1/8 nitro buggy so i can start racing, but i was wondering what i should get. I will probably receive around £200 - £250 and so will not be able to get a top of the range car just yet, so i was wondering what car would be durable, easy to handle, good for beginners, fast and good for racing. I've had my eye on a few things so far and here they are (with prices):

Hyper 7 - £200
Ansmann Virus 2.0 - £165
HPI Trophy 3.5 - £225

I was thinking of getting the Virus because they're modeled on Hyper 7s and they're cheaper, leaving me change for fuel and spare bits, but wondering what would be the best buggy out of these 3 and if anyone has seen them anywhere for any cheaper (UK). Also, you will have to take into consideration price and ease of part replacement and the fact that this is a HPI forum, it would be nice if it wasn't biased towards the Trophy 3.5.

Thanks guys,
Curtis.

buy kyosho they are one of the top buggy makers and their stuff is not over priced. Want proof go look at what is winning ifmar.

Did you have a certain Kyosho in mind? I've looked at the Inferno Neo which is of a similar price to the Hyper 7 but thought nothing of it. If you could give me some more specific Kyosho buggy, that'd be nice :)

Are the Kyoshos easy to get parts for in UK? I don't really want to wait 3-4 weeks for them to be delivered after ordering online.

Kyosho
Hotbodies (HPI)
Team Associated
OFNA

They all make some great buggies and there are some more out there too. I would check at your LHS and see what kind of cars they stock parts for and go from there.

I would look at what your local hobby shop stocks for parts. I would then look for a hopped up model ubove used on ebay. You will probably save alot going that route. And outfit it with your choice of motor and accesories.

Thanks. :) There is a model shop quite close to me that stock mainly Hobao + OFNA and another one the other side of town that specialise in HPI stuff. What do i do? HPI trophy or Hyper 7? Or still go for the Kyosho?

Oh and the Ansmann Virus 2.0 (which i've now seen for £160) is modeled on the Hyper 7 and so a lot of the parts are interchangeable and so i was thinking of getting a virus and putting some upgraded servos in it from a Hobao product. Any thoughts on this?

So i am now back to 3 options.

Trophy 3.5
Hyper 7
Kyosho Inferno Neo

Thanks for all your advice guys, but i am now stuck again lol. I am most likely going to go for the Trophy as the nearby model shops stock a hell of a lot of HPI parts, but hey, if there's any other suggestions i'd love to hear them.

Thanks,
Your favourite noob,
Curtis. :)

yep, like you said, your on an hpi enthusiast site and they make good stuff.

I'm partial to hpi/hotbodies, they make good product.

Thanks, do you know of any Hot Bodies buggies that would be in the price range of 180 - 250?
