I'm having a problem with the brake lever not returing to neutral position when I open the throttle.

If you're looking at the side of your savage which has the brake lever (not the side with the muffler, the other side) and the throttle linkage. When you accelerate the throttle opens and the brake lever supposed to go to the right which releases the pressure on the brake discs.

When brake applied the brake lever moves to the left, applying pressure to the brake discs which stops the truck.

My problem is that when I brake and then accelerate, my brake lever still remains to the left still applying brake pressure while my throttle is open.

Is there some spring or other device that's supposed to bring that brake lever back to neutral once you come off the brake?

I am having the same problem with my 25,someone here should know what to do.I hope

trin, it looks like your brake linkage is at such an angle it might be hanggin up .
I would reduce the angle alittle see if that helps

check to see that the brake is operateing correctly by hand.

make sure the push pin is not sticking.

I see it is a dual brake setup. to be honest I don't run one.

I need to research that and see the way it works.

Theres a screw holding the brake lever onto the tranny right? Loosen that, pull the lever up and tighten it.. Should be ok..

You might want to consider the OFNA throttle mod, it gives you better control over how your throttle and brakes operate.

Sounds like the ring on the throttle/brake linkage isnt working right. I had a similar problem with the run getting "stretched" out. The OFNA mod is the best way to go. Its simple to install and it increases the braking power. I did mine about a week ago and it works great. If you do a search on this site you can get a list of the parts you need and the instructions for the mod. It will only cost you about $12 or so and it will solve your problem.
Let us know how you make out.

i agree, ofna throttle mod is the way to go. I also have had in personal experience that the brake piston, brass piece in the tranny that pushes the pads, can wear and cause it to hang up and not engage. good luck.

Take a piece on fuel line and put it on the section of exposed wire between the servo and brake arm. When the servo returns to nuetral or goes to trottle it will push the brake arm back. I do this to all my trucks.
