Replacing brakes

I bought HPI 87025 aka the red fiberglass brakes since my brakes are incredibly soft. I'm not sure if my brakes rod is factory, but I can't seem to twist it to adjust it. Is the easiest way to replace the brakes described in thevery post below? Essentially take off the exhaust side TVP and slide...
