XL Roller and Large Parts Lot parts

It's been far too long since I touched my Savage XL so it's time to part with it. It's only collecting dust and will make someone else happy so here goes. This would make a great starter setup for someone looking to see if they will like it or getting their young kid into their own truck. What...

    WTB WTB: Stock 4.6

Looking for a motor for my daughter's X. Doesn't need to be modded or even anything too fancy as I'm teaching her the basics of tuning and such. A basic 4.6 stocker or similar will be plenty and hopefully fairly inexpensive. PM me with what you have... Thanks!

Starved for fuel or something else?

Had the truck out today and had an interesting issue that I couldn't figure out. Unfortunately, I don't have a video of it so I'll do my best at describing what it was doing. To start, it was about 40 degrees out. After it got up to temp(or what I thought was warm enough-the head was pretty...

    What does this indicate?

So I managed to have time to run 4 tanks of fuel through my truck today and came home to do my usual maintenance routine an decided to check the head screws and found one to be a little loose. So I took them all out to clean the cooling fins and decided to look at the piston and saw this. It...

    Sloppy 3 speed...

If you look closely at these two pictures, you can see the slop between 1st and 2nd and 2nd and 3rd gear. Is this much normal or should I start the hunt for shims to tighten this up? What does everyone think?

    Baja Wheel Conversion

How extensive is the conversion to run Baja Wheels on my XL? Is it just two of these kits: http://www.hpiracing.com/products/en/87495/ and one set of wheel nuts: http://www.hpiracing.com/products/en/87494/ Something tells me I'd need to change the cups out so they have a bigger shaft...

    Tire/wheel slop...

Is it just me or do most Savages have some slop after tightening a wheel on? It appears to me that there should/could be a shim or two behind the wheel hex pin to take up that play. Obviously so it's not tight, but enough to not make the wheel feel like it flops around too much.

    Roto Start or Pull Start

Just as the title states, which is preferred? I had a Roto Start on my 4.1 until yesterday during a few minutes of running it after finishing the mid tank mod. When I brought it back the entire back plate including the OWB, gears, and the screws were gone and nowhere to be found. I like not...

    Mini LST questions

So I've had a mini LST for quite some time and plan to get it up and running when I get back from deployment. My question is this, it came with twin 370 sized motors, but I can't seem to find replacement 370's. I have found 380's and the obvious single brushless setups from Mamba but I plan...

    Nice bash session today...

Went out and got a good three hours :rock1: out of my X today before breaking a clutch spring, which in turn got my clutch bell spinning a little cross-eyed which ate the front CB bearing and the brass washer :cussing: . I also tore a rear tire a bit and lost a few screws through the course of...

    LST Shock Mounting

I just scored a set of LST shocks on :ebay: for my XL for a cool $25 for all four...Wondering a couple things: What is the recommended shock oil weight/ spring color combo for these for most light to medium bashing? Also, I have read a few threads on how to mount them and as I understand it...

    Interior diff shim?

So after two hours on a brand new diff, they chipped again for the third time!!bad word After the second time I replaced the cups with Nova cups, I shimmed the unit so there was what I felt to be an extremely smooth mesh, used 10,000 weight silicone diff fluid, but they stripped again. None of...

WTB WANTED: Savvy X Stock 2 Speed Tranny

Anybody have a stock 2 speed they are willing to part with? I will pay a reasonable price plus shipping. The set screw on both ends of the out drives on mine are frozen solid and subsequently stripped at this point. I'm going to eventually upgrade to a three speed but I'm going to do that along...

    Sealing Diff Cup

Is there any reason I shouldn't use a thin bead of gasket maker to seal up my diffs especially if I fill the diff, put the bead around the top of the cup, carefully place the gear on and screw it down tight, leaving it in that upright position for a day to cure? I'm not talking a huge bead that...

    Clear Body

Hey All, I was wondering if I could inconvienence anyone long enough to get some pictures. I'm planning out my new body layout but don't have the body yet. I'm looking for pics of both sides , front, back, and the top of any real basic truck body as long as it's clear. I'm going to layout my...

    WTB Electric Basher Wanted

I have a buddy looking for a truck. He prefers it be electric but might consider a nitro. Must come pretty much RTR and not require a bunch of replacement parts right off the bat. He's buying this to gauge his interest before he buys a brand new setup.. Who's got what?? :bozzy:

    Nice and Black

Just dyed my new yellow Proline wheels black. Turned out perfect! Mixed one whole pack of RIT black dye as directed in the instructions, mixed it with about a gallon and a half of hot water, boiled them for about 7 minutes, and they are black as black can be. And it didn't make a huge...

    Just ordered!

...a set of Proline Velocity 1/2" Offset wheels. I plan on dying them black before mounting any tires on them. Everybody is raving about the Badlands being a great all around tire but I'm  there has got to be another option as I'd like to be a little different..LOL I'd prefer them...

    Arghhh!!! Cheap screws...

So I just took the transmission out of my rig to change from the single brake to the dual disc and the :cussing: set screw to remove the cup stripped (see pic) with very little pressure. The allen wrench fit really snug but I'm guessing that the screws used to assemble this are too soft to be...
