So my poor old 4.6 is tired. Thinking it's time to upgrade to something with a little more bang.
Would a 5.9 be able to utilize all of the Savage X drivetrain components? Would the three speed transmission I have be able to hold? And the differentials?
Also, what other motors would you...
Maybe not a differential. Maybe the clutch bell is hitting on your spur gear. I had the same problem. It would only catch the spur gear when I was pushing the truck backwards. Check it out maybe?
Good to know. But I have a failsafe on my savy and will always put one on my future trucks so that's not a problem either. Looks like I'm going with this setup.

What you guys think? I was just wondering if they are any good before I hit the button.
Thanks in advance.
Btw, long time no see. :)
What he said. My OWB is dying right now and I can crank on it all day with the roto start and it will only hit every now and then. I usually get lucky and it grabs long enough to start the savy.
My motor is completely torn down right now. I was just gonna pull the cover plate off the OWB and...
HTL is a problem you can't avoid in the stock tank setup I believe. The fuel level goes below the throttle body and gravity no longer helps supply fuel. You need to tune the HSN right with less than half a tank. It will run a little rich when full but won't die when you run it down.
They come with a silencer that helps a little. It's still pretty loud, but it's tolerable. I have also heard about steel wool. But I haven't tried it myself. I don't see why it would be a problem. Just a little more resistance.
She is going to get rebuilt this afternoon if the parts come in.
Big bore suspension, new drive shafts and dog bones, new exhaust, new three speed tranny with high speed third gear, and new fiber brakes.
Ok... I ripped the antenna off of my receiver. So, I guess it's time to upgrade.
Anyone care to tell me what my options are?
It still works but my range is severally shortened.
Thanks.
Truck: Savage X with the RF-6 receiver and a 2 crystal
I started with dual red fiber disks. They were the worst. Not only did they die after a week but they broke as well. Hence, the installation of the SS discs.
I have been having a great time with my savy.
But, I have been breaking her a lot.
I was driving it around yesterday for the first time in weeks and randomly a wheel fell off.
Then, I had an issue where it was revving really high when I let off the throttle. Almost like, example, I...
