stripping spur gears

Ok, a co-worker of mine has a savage 25 with the stock motor in it. Every time we go bashing he strips his spur gear. He has the 3 speed tranny in it. Ive tried to set this thing up 3 times. I use the paper method, same as I did in mine. I have no trouble with mine. His cb is a 17 and a 47 spur...
