What did you do to your HPI Savage today?

Yes, that's it. And with the long line winding from the exhaust to the tank, it won't spill fuel when upside down, runs much longer upside down, and holds a more consistent tune throughout the tank full of fuel.

What did you do to your HPI Savage today?

My boy made me see if mine would run today. And it did! I wasn't sure that old XTM 24.7 had any life left. I have some tuning to do, but it runs!

Roto start clutch setting (1 isn't enough!)

That's why I prefer pull start over roto. You just can't feel when the engine is flooding with the roto. You may want to pull the plug out, turn the truck upside down, and crank it until fuel sprinkles out. Then you know you have a good prime, and not flooded because the plug is removed. In...

And I have this among my parts. I saw on for sale on the web for $110.00!! I'm glad I stocked up on spare parts back in the day!

What did you do to your HPI Savage today?

I did that so long ago, I'm not sure I can remember. I can tell you that I have a short lenth of fuel line that runs from the inside of the cap to the bottom of the tank. The mods I've done to my trucks were all done well over 10 years ago, so it's hard to remember specifics. It's challenging to...

I actually had one, and already fixed it. Thanks!

What did you do to your HPI Savage today?

I did a mod in the tank itself to take care of the 1/2 lean issue way back in the day. The extreme length of the fuel line is for when you flip the truck over and you have to run a long way to put it back on it's wheels. Having a long fuel line helps to keep fuel going to the engine so it...

What did you do to your HPI Savage today?

My son and I finally got to run one of the Savages today. We had to richen the settings for the cool weather. I'm just tickled pink that it runs after sitting for a decade. Almost ran through a tank before the steering horn slipped. Now to dig through my parts to find a replacement.

    Finally it here!

While we're talking non HPI stuff, does anyone have any thoughts or experience with the Kyosho Foxx? They have nitro and electric versions, and look pretty awesome, but I've never had a close look at them. The Traxxas machines perform well, but don't have the durability that led me to the HPI...

    Slipper lock?

Let us know how the rubberized cork works out. I'm curious.

    Diff oil questions

I typically use 300k in the rear for traction and 100k in the front for easier steering. I tried packing the rear diff with silly putty once to try to make it like posi traction. Didn't work, so don't bother trying!

What did you do to your HPI Savage today?

There's quite a lot of aftermarket brand parts on Amazon too.

Has anyone run one of these?

Thanks for the replies. I've been tearing down , cleaning, and inspecting all of my old engines. The XTM 457 I was running is pretty ugly on the inside, and I don't have much confidence that it would run for very long. I ended up assembling an old XTM 24.7 Pro. It was pretty clean on the inside...

Has anyone run one of these?

The Goolsky SH M28-P3 4.57. Are they any good? https://www.amazon.com/Goolsky-M28-P3-2-stroke-Powered-Monster/dp/B01G8MGDI6/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1514306695&sr=8-1&keywords=goolsky+sh+m28-p3

    Going to tear them down

Sometimes the screws that hold the head on are difficult to remove. I just put mine on the woodstove for about 5 minutes, then the screws crack loose with no problem. You can also use a heat gun or oven. Just have some leather gloves on hand because the engine will be too hot to handle!

    Crossover parts?

Engines aren't hard to find, though there are less options then there used to be. 25-28 seems to be a good balance of power and drive line wear. Amazon, or just about any hobby site or shop can fix you up.

Hi guys New to Savage and building a new savage

Smart move on the engine. In my opinion, anything more than a .28 leads to worn out drive parts much sooner.
