    Diff oil questions

Probably true but tinkering with stuff because you can is half the fun! To go against my earlier post I have now changed out my super heavy rear diff oil with 75k. I liked the heavy oil when the truck was nitro powered but now that its electric it was way to hard to keep straight on the loose...

    Flux XL spur/slipper

I did all that because I wanted to figure out a way to run the plastic spur gears on the the new XL centre gear box. I still haven’t been able to although I haven’t really put much more effort into it since the new XL slipper/spur is rock solid. Down side is there is only one spur gear currently...

    Help with novarossi engine

Preheat the engine before starting it especially when new. It will save you so many agrivations and possibly broken parts. I take an power inverter with me and run a heat gun with it off my vehicle battery. A minute or two of heating is all it takes.

LRP ZR.32X Competition vs Novarossi LEGEND 28-8 for Savage

Interesting comparison, kind of like a chevy Silverado to a ferrari. Although I have never owned a nova engine they are know to be high quality powerful engines. The Lrp you mentioned is ok, lots of guys them in a savage. I have an older spec 2 .32 and hate it but thats just because I’m picky...

Savage S-25 engine hard to start when warm

I have a lrp .32 that is impossible to start when its hot. You can actually hear fuel boiling in the carb despite the temps and tune being good. Fuel would be forced back down the fuel line toward the tank. I was told it was caused by the uninsulated carbs that lrp used back then. (I think it is...

    Eating the spur gear

That looks to be the right part #, it might come with the spring as well. That should keep you going, a round hole washer will cause the whole assembly to come loose and burn up the pad/spur gear almost immediatly.

    Eating the spur gear

I always prefered the plastic spurs, cheap so I could have 2-3 different sizes and easily swap them out. I always set the mesh so there is just a tick of play between the spur and clutch bell. Hold the clutchbell with you finger and move the spur, if you have just a little tick your good. No...

    Servo issue

I used that savox 1258 in my nitro for a while, it is super fast which is nice for throttle/brakes. The one @WoodiE suggested is waterproof which is a really nice feature as well if you want to run in some damp weather.

    Steering gyro

    Definitely worth it for $20

    Steering gyro

So I decided to try out a steering gyro in my flux xl and ordered in a cheap skyrc GC301 from rcjuice. For about $20 I wasn't expecting much but to my surprise it works actually quite well. As an option you are able to connect it to the 3rd channel of your radio and remotely adjust the...

    5s question

Anyone out there running 5s, x1 2s and x1 3s packs in their flux? I have read about a few people who have done it doesn't seem too common. Is there anything required besides just plugging in the packs as usual? How would the low voltage cutoff work properly?

    frankensavage

Interesting info here for sure. I’m new fairly to electric and converted my XL as well with a mamba monster esc and castle 2200 but 2 not x. Running the stock 16 pinion and 43 spur with stock tires, badlands or trencher x’s i have yet to see a temp over 105. Now I don’t do speed runs only short...

    Flux XL spur/slipper

Just an update here, I ordered and received the upper shaft from a savage octane the other day. It will fit the flux xl centre gear box gears and spacers and fit back together ok. You can also fit the standard plastic spur gears from the rest of the savage line up. The problem is there is not...

    Nitro XL goin' brushless

Had time to figure out a skid plate. I just used an old Proline skid plate I have from the previous XL nitro. Had to heat it up with a heat gun and then straighten it because the nitro xl tvp’s are not flat on the bottom. Then I used a couple nitro motor plate braces, attached them drilled 4...

    Nitro XL goin' brushless

Now that I am looking at your pics on a real screen rather than my phone I see both trucks have big bores and duels on both, didn't catch that. I also see you have fastened a skid plate of some kind on the new XL, exactly my concern with the gear box hanging down there all vulnerable.

    Nitro XL goin' brushless

Tough to compare with such major differences between the two trucks, tires/shocks. The extra droop like mentioned is probably due to the old style small shocks vs the newer big bores. My comment about reduced ground clearnce was mainly about how things hang way low in the tvp’s which is a...

    Nitro XL goin' brushless

Doubledx2 you mention that the new XL has new a-arms but hpi’s exploded diagrams show the same part numbers as the rest of the modern savage lineup for the whole suspension. What is different about them? maybe HPI has changed something and not updated their website where I have been looking?

    Nitro XL goin' brushless

I used a piece of a previous savages skid plate and a few plastic cross braces to make the esc mount and then secured it with 3M 2 sided foam tape. There was no way that I was going to leave the ESC way up top like the stock XL, I think that is almost as silly as there being no more roll...

    Nitro XL goin' brushless

Ok this thing is about done. To recap this truck started as an XL nitro and I have converted it to the new XL Flux. Now had I done proper research to begin with I never would have went this way as there is a fair bit of difference between the rest of the savage line up and this new XL. Parts...
