Can anybody help me identify this problem on my savage ?

Looks like a fun location for some trucking. I need to find some better venues. I have a little park that I run in but it's not that great. Of course I live in downtown Houston so finding good spots close by is a bit tough. Glad to hear that you have it tuned up and running well!

    Nitro Start Questions

I prime every time. No chance of it firing up unless I do. I usually like to see fuel moving through the carb (with the air filter removed) just to be sure that I have fuel in the cylinder. Two of my friends are also running new Savage 4.6s. They have the same issues with the nitro start...

Savage X Spur Gear on Duratrax Warhead

Yea, it's a shame. I like the size - I haven't checked the dimensions but I'm pretty sure it's larger then the Savage. It's pretty heavy though, and I've heard that the Super Tigre engine isn't that great so I'm guessing that the Savage will outperform it. But I'll be a happy camper regardless...

Savage X Spur Gear on Duratrax Warhead

Just for fun, here are a few pictures of the cleaned up Warhead Evo. As I have mentioned, it has an awful lot in common with the Savage design. Hopefully I'll have some time this weekend to see if it will actually run.

Savage X Spur Gear on Duratrax Warhead

Interesting stuff. Doesn't sound promising for me as far as your experiences with lack of spur / clutch upgrades. And that was way back when the truck was still being actively made, right? We'll see, I still plan to look into using Savage parts, just need to find the time to check it out and...

Savage X Spur Gear on Duratrax Warhead

I haven't yet but that will be my next move. I'm thinking there's a good chance. And if it works my worries will be solved. Would love to be able to buy all Savage parts and use them on all of the trucks. I'm thinking the same for air filters. The Warheads filter is a bit worn. Just bought a...

Savage X Spur Gear on Duratrax Warhead

Alright, here are a few pictures of spur gears and slipper pad sets from the Savage and from the Warhead: They're somewhat similar in design, I would say. Obviously differently sized holes. I'm hoping that the Warhead gear is sized for a bushing in the middle, otherwise the smaller hole on...

Savage X Spur Gear on Duratrax Warhead

Thanks, I'll try to post those pics tomorrow.

Savage X Spur Gear on Duratrax Warhead

Shortly after I got my Savage X, a buddy of mine gave me a Duratrax Warhead. It's an older truck, long since discontinued, but this one is in great shape and should have considerable life left. The Warhead design has quite a few similarities to the Savage. In fact, when I first saw it, I figured...

    Nitro Start Questions

Hello all, So I've completed my break-in process and I've run another 2 or 3 tanks with my new Savage X. Been a blast thus far. I have a few questions about the nitro start unit. I've noticed that it frequently has a hard time turning over the engine. Often times, it will start rotating but...

Nice! I am envious of that let it rip attitude. Maybe I've been over-thinking it. Heck, the motor is only a 15 dollar part anyhow. I ran it wheels off the ground for about 3 minutes at 1/3 throttle and then did a few more at 2/3 with slow ramp ups to full speed. Then I put it on the ground...

    Jumpshot sc

Interesting. I'd like to try a brushless setup down the line. But for now I wanted a fairly inexpensive option for checking out electrics. Hence the Jumpshot. It comes with a brushed motor - a Firebolt 15T, I believe. Jam, would you recommend anything specific for break in of that motor? I'm...

    Jumpshot sc

I've been reading about electric motor break-in. What I've read so far is all over the place as far as different opinions and methods. I was shocked to read about (and see videos of) the water break in method, I never would have thought that would be a good idea (or safe). The most sensible...

Looks sweet! I've been thinking along the same lines as you. Thought I might like something simpler / easier and more importantly less time consuming so I could get some after-work runtime in without waiting for the weekends. Also been looking to give electric a try, since I've only had nitros...

What did you do to your HPI Savage today?

Also installed my hump pack, "Y" switch, and LED battery indicator. Screwed up installing the charger connection behind the rubber grommet though. Unfortunately, the parts didn't come with screws. So I went rummaging through the tool boxes and found a couple of screws that looked like they...

What did you do to your HPI Savage today?

Took a run at trimming the body to fit over the engine protector. This was my first attempt at any body trimming. Started off pretty rough. Eventually ditched the scissors and went with the Dremel and then things started improving. Certainly not a perfect job, but I think I'm more or less...

    Requesting Break-In Advice

Hey guys, Just checking in to see if anybody has some thoughts on the break-in process thus far. Will probably be continuing with round 2 this weekend. As a side note, the RC gods have gifted me with some good fortune - I was telling a work buddy about the trucks and he gave me a Duratrax...

What did you do to your HPI Savage today?

Ordered parts for my first mod in my new Savage X 4.6. Got a hump pack, LED battery level indicator, and Y harness for charging connection on the way.

New Savage x 4.6 slipping & shifting problems?

Hey there, I'm new myself so I'll leave answering your questions to the experts. Just wanted to say hi and let you know that I also just purchased a new Savage X 4.6 and am currently working through break-in. You are ahead of me - I'm currently three tanks into the process so I'm still running...

    Requesting Break-In Advice

Before I forget, here are a few other observations from today's break-in work. Interested to hear if this sounds normal and if others have experienced same. Idle Speed - I was surprised by how high the idle speed seemed to be set. Almost right away the tires were spinning at reasonable speed...
