I have learnt from the help of the kind people on the RCTalk forum that multiple measures are the best approach.
- Hump pack (charged) and batterly level indicator
- Fail safe that locks the brakes on if radio signal is lost
- Throttle return spring just in case everything goes pear shaped...
Maybe compare the HP vs RPM and figure out which you prefer. You have a 3speed transmission right? I would go for less RPM and more HP. However will use more fuel.
It can handle it. Maybe shim your diffs if you haven't already. I shimmed the front and rear diffs and pinions on my xl flux plus some 30k diff oil and it handles 6s without a problem (but I can't!). Before I shimmed them I went through a couple of bevel and pinion gears.
+2 for the LRP .30. I just threw one in my Trophy 4.6 and it has plenty of usable power. Trophy had the same powerplant as the Savage X. For AUD $240 it is pretty good value too ($188USD).
