doubtfull the tranny was due to crash. more than likely the 2 screws rolling around in there at wide open when trannny scattered and the clutch was locked up tight, piston rod couldnt take force.
sheer carnage. would guess the tranny case is thrashed along with the block,piston, and sleeve...
lol I run Harley 20/50 synthetic in my differentials and have had to put thicker o-rings from parts store in them so the oil don't leak out. If i could find a way to seal the carrier, i would run 20/50 in there too, but those get High speed bearing grease and the grease has a tendency to move...
I am not quite as picky, but i like to have clean stuff. 175lbs air pressure helps clean stuff real well. it is much easier to see problems before failure with something if its fairly clean.

notch is facing the exhaust port that i can see in first picture so sleeve is in right. put piston at bottom dead center and try lightly tapping it down with a dowell or small chunk o' wood. it should be slightly below the block deck
Better hold onto it. you may need it in the future as I do not think the new owners of HPI have any interest in making OEM parts for savages anymore. if they did, they surely would have gotten a start by now and we would not be having to deal with crap like this...
I use double big bores on my savages for the stiffness and the 2 short framed X and Flux use the XL wider axles and beefier drivetrain. with wider stance, there are definately less tip oivers from turns

before you center the transmoiier trimms, you need to take the arms off both servos and turn the steering/pull the throttle a few time so the servos center, then center trim knobs then repaet the throttle/steerin process then put arms back on servos and you should be at center.
Factory settings...
if you hold the spur so it wont move, then roll the pinion/bell with your finger you should feel/see a slight bit of movement.
If your in-experienced, a piece of printer paper between th gears works well to set the mesh till you get the hang of it.
electric gear mesh is much noisier than nitro...
are the gear pitches the same on pinion and spur? mismatched pitches with lead to alot of noise and eventually failure

slide a zippy tie or small wooded dowel through exhaust port with the piston at bottom dead center then turn the flywheel to get it to slide up enough to get a hold with something better
