    Electric conversion

He's wrong. Look under what that part fits. Almost every Savage ever is standard or optional fitting, including your X SS. http://www.hpiracing.com/en/part/85052?show_disc=true

    Electric conversion

Someone can correct me if I'm wrong here, but I believe all of the savage transmissions use the same housing. So the mounting is the same for all of them. Only difference is that if you go back far enough the transmission housing could only be split in half with it out of the truck, the newer...

    Hpi back in trouble...

I've heard that before........let's see if this is different. :nailbite: Atleast it's a step forward though.

    Savage X 4.6 - Manifold Springs?

There are holes on either side of the header. The spring attaches to those, while being wrapped around the engine block. Page from the manual:

    Savage X 4.6 - Manifold Springs?

Are you speaking about the spring that holds the header to the engine block? Or the springs that some exhaust systems use to hold the header to the muffler?

    Charging

Rule of thumb for charging is 1C, unless otherwise specified by the manufacturer. Your battery is 2000mAh, so charge at max 2A. This will charge it in about an hour. Keep in mind that the temperature should be monitored as you charge, if the battery is getting too hot it will damage your...

    Cut out

More airflow over the engine/ cooling head is always a good thing. I've done it on a few bodies. Just keep in mind, air is not the only thing that will go through that hole. Dirt, debris, etc.

Post your daily driver/ weekend warrior

I've had 5 black cars in a row........ At this point I'm beyond nutty with trying to keep my cars clean. It's impossible for more than a day at a time! Still, when a black car is clean it looks so dang good! So, I'll probably continue running down that path to insanity.

    Piston sticking

Yes, when the piston reaches TDC (top dead center) it should be tight. That is the engine's pinch and is a measure of good health for the engine. This is why some will heat up the engine before starting it the first time, to loosen the piston enough for it to start easier. The best way to do...

Any changes I could make? :)

If it were me, I'd return the A-arms (upper and lower) as well as the shock towers to stock. Aluminum components in suspension just bend, rather than absorb damage. Or, they transfer the damage to the next damageable part. Also, I'd move to a smaller wheel/tire combo. I've had the HPI...

I wish we'd gotten Falcon's over here @Biddie_fiddler. Aside from the 60s version that is. I also wish Holden would have sent some stuff this way, other than the monaro that became the GTO here. I'll join ya with a ford of my own. 2012 GT California Special Also I keep saying I need to...

What did you do to your HPI Savage today?

True enough. @NitroNick, you could try Hot Racing's Warlock hex kit. Likely wouldn't have an issue then. https://hot-racing.com/?partnumber=HSF10X07;c=462

What did you do to your HPI Savage today?

That makes more sense. Perhaps for whatever reason the molds for HPI's wheels have a bit of tolerance in the hex. Quality control isn't fantastic in hobby stuff. Luckily mine have been tight.

    Run away / Failsafe

If an issue causes the servo to hold the carb open, no, the spring will do little to help. The spring cannot overcome the force of the servo when powered.

Those look great! Post up a pic of them on your savage.

What did you do to your HPI Savage today?

I've got two sets of warlock wheels, never rounded a hex. Pays to be vigilant with the wheel nuts I guess. ;)

Trying to understand a runaway rig

The receiver battery is what could potentially trigger the failsafe. Though, I believe that some transmitters have a similar setup. For it to be stuck WOT, the system would have needed to lose signal or sufficient voltage while in the WOT state. Basically it holds whatever state it was in...

Trying to understand a runaway rig

There's no need to berate him for trying to understand the situation. He is asking valid questions.

    Run away / Failsafe

When that spring is in place and there is no input from the throttle servo, it causes the carb slide to return to idle.
