my guess is the stock shoes slip ..creates enough heat to melt the gear...I have had clutch problems to .. seems the aluminum shoe upgrade is a must "DO" for the Savage ....are you checking your engine temp at the half tank and lower? ...you may be running 220 at full tank but 280 or more at...
I have also heard that making your lines as short as possible works as well ...have not tested this yet ....have to wait til the GF leaves me alone ..so I can try it out ...
I locked the slipper...and it was still slipping ...I sprayed some brake clean inside the bell ...grabs very well now...I guess there was some water ..or maybe nitro inside causing it to slip ...thanks for the advice guys.. but I think I will upgrade the shoes and springs here pretty quick ...
is the engine tuned properly ...believe it or not it has alot to do with shifting... I had a new savage ..so many problems ..one of which was it would not shift at all into second...I took the tranny apart ..and turns out I was missing parts ..but in your case ...make sure the engine is tuned...
Hey Guys ...I'm not sure why I cannot get my clutch to bite.....I'm on my second set of shoes...I have removed the clutch bell ..prepped the inside ..cleaned with brake clean ....even scuffed up the shoe ...and it still slips... I'm not sure but I think it has something to do with heat build up...
Conrod Bearing Not Lined Up !!
Hey guys...man I am very ****ed at my savage purchase(new)...I have had so many issues I'm just fed up ... first off I had a faulty clutch pin ..wrecked the clutch up ...replaced it with new FW and clutch kit...then had a leaky fuel tank ....and now I have a fuel...
Thats great to hear ..thankx ... it makes a big dif ...the servo is much more responsive... I have 2 of these batteries from my heli ...one less thing I have to buy ...lol...
Can anyone tell me if I can run a LiPo 2 cell 8.4 volt battery pack with the stock electronics?...heres the specs on the battery
Charge rate - 1amp
Discharge rate- 15 amps
max volts per cell - 4.2
max pack voltage - 8.4
min discharge rate - 6.0 volts
can anyone tell me if the clutch pins are pressed into the flywheel or are they loose and can be removed with your fingers?
need to know before I go back the the LHS ..this should be warranty ...
Was wondering why my engine was lacking power ... black dry soot all over the rear right side ...clutch pin loose ..almost wore right through the BH ...guess I need new clutch and fly wheel...
think I found the problem?
noticed this dry black soot all over the rear control arms and axle on the exhaust side ...thought it was the dif ...look at the picture see if you notice anything unusual ...:dunno:... brand new already buying parts ..lol
She's brand new ...slipper clutch is tight ...I tightened it all the way in for a test run ...still the same ...backed it out after ... could it possibly be its shifting to early into 2nd ..?
just got back from finishing the break in ...started to fine tune it ...but I must say I'm a little disappointed with the power output... cannot get this thing to lift the front tires off the ground...I tried everything ...maybe the aluminum parts just added to much weight .? anybody with stock...
alright ...thanks ...wasnt sure if the max 250 temp was only for break in or normal tuning... I will just tune it according to outside temps...run it a little rich in the hot summer months..
Hey guys ...just grabbed a Savage X 4.6 .... I know during break in the enging temp should not exceed 250 F ... my question is after break in ...and proper tuning ..what is the usual safe operating temp of the engine ...?
