Hey can any 1 help me please.

My truck is fine. starts fine. runs fine but when i open her up she starts to die and wont get into second gear. Played with HSN all day to try tune her but no luckk .. don't really no about tunning yet so haven't touched LSN.. so if i restore the needles to factory setting and work from there to see where I'm at. Cheers

Most all hpi motors are a flush needle setting .. retune to flush then tune in 1/8 increments on the HSN .. (don't over tune and make it lean) once you get decent top end, start w/ the LSN

DO the pinch test to get your base line tune.
pinch the flue line 1 inch from the carb .. the truck should rev up for a second then die .. if your too lean it will die right away .. too rich the truck will continue to run for more then 4 seconds

re tune to flush.. which is what? i don't no the factory settings for this savage .??

Iv been lookin around and foudn this -

3.5 turns from closed on HSN
2mm gap from turnin LSN?

is that right?

and what/where is the MSN ? i fort my HSN was the needle highest to the top and the lsn is the needle below that.. where the MSN i been seein people on about

the .21 BB settings are 3-1/2 turns out from full closed HSN. LSN is the same and the mid is 3-1/4 turns

Its not flush setings.. If you want pics LMK I have one of them old bones around here somewhere

All these things can be found on Hpi racings website...

yes some carbs are 3 needle carbs,, which means they have a midrange needle as well as the customary high speed and low speed needles the 25 and even my 4.1 (savage x rtr) don't have the midrange needle so you don't have to worry about that!! and "flush" settings mean the needle should be flush with the outside housing its in... this is hpi factory settings.......

yep the .21 BB has a Mid screw... But does not use flush settings. HPI did that later in the game...

see i've learned something new again!! lol

No, you have the MRN and LSN the wrong way round..the LSN is on the end of the carb slide, the Mid Range Needle is above the exhaust...

I your pic, what you have labeled as the LSN is actually the mid-range needle which generally you do not need to mess with to tune the motor(seal that up because it likes to walk), and what you have as the MRN is actually the LSN.

BTW, just looking at the pic, it looks like that HSN is in a little to far, which will make the motor lean and raise the temps. Looking at your cooling head, it looks like it has been run a little hot IMO.

Now the thing isnt starting. I think its down to the glow starter not charged enough 'i hope' so charging that and going to get a new Glow Plug maybe tomorrow. so HOPEFULLY all ok. and yeh with the LSN - 3 half turn from when screw is closed or when gap in carb is closed??

Ok so got a new Glow plug.. Put it in started her up and as soon as it connected it revved up quite bit then stalled now wont start again.. I think iv set the needles wrong or somethingg.. Helpp please.
