Are the Integy 17mm Hex Adapters any good?

Hi

Does anyone have any first hand experience with the Integy 17mm Hex Adapters?

The main problem I have with those is they are offset 6mm which will add stress to the bearings and possibly cause the axles to bend also.....
the stock HPI 17mm hexes will work just fine and they have no added offset, if you want to widen the truck a bit use RPM Stable maxx 17mm hex wheels they will add 1/2 inch to each side and to top it off the wheels are almost unbreakable since they have the RPM guarantee

I'm not looking to make it wider but I do want buggy style hexs, and since the HPI 114341 17mm Savage buggy style hex adapters are virtually impossible to find I'm left with getting either the H.R. $40 17mm 5mm offset hex set or the Integy $25 17mm 6mm offset hex set "this is the shortest that Integy sells". The Savage XL I know uses 59mm long axles over the stock 44mm axles, thats a 15mm offset, and I will also be using the HPI 100415 Super Heavy Duty Drive Shaft Conversion Set, so I shouldn't have to worry to much about the axles and bearings. It's the material quality of the hexs that I'm interested in.

Just an FYI, the SHD axles do nothing for the bearings/axle carriers/arms. The bones are larger and the cups are larger. Everything else is the same.

Depending on which wheel axle/cups you get, they have the SHD in short and long. I think I have short on my X and long on my flux, but I have SHD on both.

Using the HPI wheel nuts, I have snapped the axles off at the threads more than once. The last time I did it on my flux, I was having a hard time finding replacements, think it was late last year or earlier this year. So, since it's using the extended axles, I made some out of some awful ones that were on the truck when I got it. I cut them so they were basically the same length/offset as the stock setup was with the HPI hubs. Then 80% of the "hub" is actually supported by the axle shaft. I cut them so they had the HEX part over where the pin goes through, then I drilled holes for the pins and the wheel hex keeps them on. Now I have buggy style hex's on it and they are way stronger than the stock setup that I kept busting wheel nuts on.

Then I somehow lost one of the stupid cap nuts and found some old associated nylock ones I bought many years ago that didn't fit anything, and they worked:

This is on one that still has the threaded part, I had to drill holes in cap nuts.

I only mention it because they are cheap, can get them for $10 on ebay then cut/drill them like I did. However, probably best to use with the longer SHD axles so more of the hub rides on the large part of the axle to support all the weight/impact.

The HR ones are good and it's not that expensive on our site.
