Toe in or out will help it run straight by causing the front tires to fight each other in either orientation. The issue is what you want it to do when you turn a little bit on purpose. With positive toe-in, when you turn, it becomes more aggressive about it. With a toe-out, when you turn, it's less aggressive. For me, less aggressive is usually better with a MT that has high COG.
With my 2wd stadium trucks or when I had 1/8 buggies, I ran them with a bit of toe-in to make them more aggressive as the chassis/body roll wasn't so bad. On something like the savage, or even my 1/10 traxxas stampede, toe-in makes the truck very twitchy and more likely to lose control/tip over when at a decent speed.
Aggressive steering might be something you'd want on a 1/8 ST for racing purposes though. Still, they are much lower COG than MT's, so it's less of a handful to deal with.
