Hello all

Very happy I was able to get my savage started! It took about 10 mins to get it going

It’s now been on a stand for about 30 minutes idling and still has half a tank to go - and this is only tank one! Is this normal?

One other question- while idling after 10 mins or so the throttle would increase on its own at a steady rate and then the engine would shut off. I richened it about a 1/4 turn and that seemed to stop it. Now engine temp is 262 so I richened hi speed needle another 1/4 turn. Other than that it’s all at factory settings. Does that seem like the right thing to do?

Thanks a million! Love this forum!

After this you can take it off the stand and run it in small circles back and forth varying throttle between half and idle always watching the temps and do this for a couple tanks, lean the high end if it needs it to keep running.... then you can go to 3/4 throttle and do the same, you will know when it is ready to really run... do a long breakin to prolong the life of your engine you will thank yourself later down the road...

Ok I am done with break in and things couldn’t have gone better. Goes into 2nd gear and is just great. Tuned the high speed needle leaner as per the manual and average temperature ranges from 200-210.

Question: I haven’t touched the low speed needle or the idle. Any advantages of changing the low speed needle or idle setting or should I just leave them alone?

Thanks again!
