I have a savage X 4.6 and the brakes got loose. I know i need to tighten the screws on the brakes but just don't know how. Can anyone advise me any easy way to remove the brakes?

Do you mean the two screws that hold the pads onto the tranny have one loose? The easiest way to tighten them is to remove the tranny I have found.

to get the transmission out you need to completely remove one side of the TVP plates, if you try to force it you are going to bend something....

You can also get at the brakes if you remove the entire rear bulk/assembly and the engine. Or, if you take off one TVP and the screws to the other side of the trans. To remove the rear, I don't take off a TVP, I just remove the upper rear bolts going through the bulkhead and loosen the engine plate bolts, then that usually gives enough flex in the TVP to pop the rear end out in one chunk.

Are the screws actually loose or do you just need to adjust your linkage to take up some of the slack so the brakes grab again?

The breaks are loose. ok will try 1 of the method.

Also check if they are stripped they do go in plastic that happened to mine once.

Long story short, was too busy and only manage to get the thing running now. Breaks was working fine for about 10 min or so and the breaks were loose again, to completely no breaking power. Any advise would be greatly appreciated guys...:(
