Hello to my favorite community in the world! I have questions/concerns I guess? I have, use, and love a savage flux HP. It has gotten me excited about this hobby. I own one nitro t-maxx which was my first rc and only nitro I've owned. I only got a gallon out of it and then gave up on it due to problems that I will spare you because this is not a traxxas forum..... It's way better. I tell you this because I just received my second nitro truck. It is a savage 25 that has never even seen fuel. Everything brand new aside from a select few missing items. I would like input on what to expect with this truck? The good, the bad, the inevitable? I have been reading threads for literally days on end trying to prepare. I want to do whatever I can to make engine last as long as possible along with the rest of truck of course. Any tips for a complete newbie? I think my break in of 3.3 engine may be my failure with t-maxx. Also have hopes that 3.3 will still work now that I have been reading so much but really don't know. It may be false hope. Anyway, I am open for any suggestions or recommendations. Thank you in advance. I'll stop rambling now

Tryed to do a quick search for heat cycle break in. Think i found it here along with a ton of useful other things..

Also check out suggested upgrades. If its new and rtr theres a good chance atleast onething will need to be changed within a few tanks. Is there a plastic gear on it? If yes find a metal replacement as it may not last long.

Upgrade list is here. If u scroll threw you will find ppls .25 recommended upgrades

Thank you very much Dem. All looks quite useful. I just sealed the engine so I hopefully don't have any issues with air leaking. First time doing that. I do have the nylon or plastic spur gear that will need changed. Also looks like I will need to change dogbones? Not too certain which ones I need to replace them with, but I will be doing so research for sure. I'm getting antsy with wanting to start breaking this thing in. I'm hoping the smaller engine will still be as much fun as I picture. Thanks again for the links!

I'm new myself. Picked up a 4.6 about 2 months ago.

Not familiar with the 25 but if there similiar at all.

My first upgrade would be the fuel tank (stock tank causes lean issues at half full where the tank gets smaller to go beside the frame) unsure if the 25uses the same tank. Good chance it does though.

Second would be metal gears.

If your tank is the same but your like me and not able to change it right away.

Cheap solution is to just fill the tank half full and tune for it.. then fill the tank up. Might run abit rich at full but wont hurt your engine when it reaches half (after break in ofc)

If your antsy go play with your toy lol.. as long as your not beating the crap out of it and u do the break in correctly you will be fine. Just order that metal gear cause the plastic one could decide to go when it wants to.

The top suggested upgrades are just that. You don't need them all and you don't need them right away.

I'm probly about 10 tanks in myself after break in and my throttle servo just went. Figured i had a week or so of bashing before winter but guess I'm done lol.

Goin to upgrade and make it shine during winter

Sounds good. Thank you. Yes to the same fuel tank, and yes to the nylon or plastic spur gear. I will start searching for replacements. Currently waiting on a few items in the mail anyway so I might as well add more to the list right? Hehe.
