I bought this truck new RTR back in 04-05 I think. It's been so long that I can't remember if the truck didn't come with second or reverse. I didn't mess with it much. So a couple years later I had it gone through and they added what ever it didn't have. Messed with it a few more times no own else around was interested with them anymore so back to the shelf it went. Now a buddy has built a small track and we now have a local R/C shop first time in a long time. So I go to the shop and ask if the would mind going through it and I pretty much got told to kick rocks! So here I am looking for all the advice I can get and still going to be buying online!

Thanks for all the help in advance!

Pictures or it never happened..... sounds as if you have a bit of work to do getting it ready for some bashing, it isn't all that hard, I hope you also have the manual that came with it.....

I hate that when you walk into a hobby shop and they act like that! I walk out never and I mean never go back I order. Most stuff online unfortunately but I'm not supporting that kind of attitude. Any help you need well be more than happy to help!

It looks in good shape, if i was you i would strip the engine and remove any corrosion that would would have built up to the crank and give all the internals a good clean and lubrication, it way pay off in the long run.

I am completely green on all of this; is there any videos to kinda help walk me threw this? What should I use to clean(chemicals) and what should I use to lubricate?

be aware some of the brakekleen and carb cleaner products can damage plastics.... I use denatured alcohol diluted with 25% water to clean most all my stuff, does not hurt plastics and dries with a blast of air from my compressor...
an old toothbrush works wonders to remove gunk and stuff before using the alcohol in a spray bottle, it cleans fuel and oil residue easily and after you are all done spray/wipe down the rig with W/D 40 to keep plastics looking new.....

I agree on the brake clean precaution. But with the air pressure that this thing put out it dries it right away. I know if you let it set for to long it will soften plastic almost like it's melting it.

@Mrtno That shop did you a favor, though that was not likely their intent. Best way to learn how your Savage works is to jump right in. Make sure you have your manual handy and just post up if you have issues. Lots of guys here to back you up.

I don't have a manual for the truck can one be purchased or downloaded?

Have you just tried new batteries, new glow plug, new gas lines and new fuel? Mines sat for a long time and yes the batteries went bad, motor was not stuck so I added some after run oil to motor from glow plug side and carb. Then cranked it and it turned. Then blew fuel to carb to clear air, filled carb with fuel and bam got it running!!!
