My flux hp just started making a popping sound when rolling so I shut it down, rolled it by hand and when the gears spin something is binding up locking the wheels. Other times I roll it by hand and the gears don't even soon at all like it's in neutral or something. I know basically nothing about these things and would greatly appreciate any advice given. Thank you in advance.

Lift the rear wheels off the ground roll the truck back and forth and see if it is popping, if not do the same with the rear and see if it pops. it sounds as if one of the differentials has broken something... locate the trouble by doing the steps above and that will let you know which differential to remove for inspection.....

Your operators manual will help you with this...

It does the same thing with both. I assume because all 4 wheels turn no matter what?

No I have not. Just got off work. Going through a moving process and do t even know if I have the tools or how to do so. I just got the truck running again yesterday after a good 9 months of sitting because I fried my esc. Then I replaced that to find I needed batteries because mine set too long in storage mode I guess. Today was my second run with it and now I'm very sad. The optimistic side of it all is every time something breaks I get to learn something new about my truck. The downside.... I don't know what I'm doing. Hehe does my manual show how to check transmission?

Should be able to remove the top of the transmission and inspect the gears, all it takes is a small phillips screwdriver and remove a few screws.....

You rock! I would have to say I've located my problem! Hehe. Now I just have to find out what the replacement part is called and where to get it. Do any of you know why this happened this way and how to prevent it? I will try to upload a pic if I can.

Yes it should. All you need to do is do like jam said remove the four screws that hold on you roll bar and three that hold the top part of the transmission onto the bottom see tips and the top will lift off.

Did the pics go through?

like i said above your manual is your best source of info, check the parts listing to id that gear number and now remove the entire transmission to clean out all those broken pieces of gear....

Sounds like a plan. Thank you very much! Now off to learn how to remove entire transmission! I will check my manual for lubricants but out of curiosity do you recommend any particular types or just keep it by the book for everything? Gotta do the same with my shocks next. Again thank you! U saved me hours of frustration.

I used a light coat of white lithium grease on the teeth of all the gears.... don't go crazy all you need is a bit, it helps them move and mesh a bit easier and also helps quiet them down a bit....You will have to remove 1 of the chassis side plates to get the trans out, if needed take pics before removing anything to help in reassembly

This is how I did my Savage X

I just use a little axle grease on my gears. Not a lot, just enough so the gears are shiny after spinning the spur by hand a bit to work it around.
