I think it's about time for some new tires lol. But it also is looking good.

Took mine out and ran it for the first time this year a week or two ago. I had it geared too tall with 18/47, so after the run I dropped back down to 17/47. 18/47 is probably ok on flat land, but just didn't really let the LRP30S2 wind out in second very well.

Really wish the camera was in focus for the offroad stuff. I ran it pretty hard for about 750cc's worth of fuel. I had 47 minutes worth of blurry footage... gave me a headache skimming through it. lol

IMG_4744.JPG IMG_4739.JPG Finally done with the extended tvp project. Cleaned and lubed everything, and drilled new holes in my original shell. I thought I would want an XL shell but I like this one a lot.

cutting the antanae tube down and sliding a good amount of the wire back into the radio box so they are slightly lower than the rollbar will save you many headaches.with a digital reciever, even if the antennae is all stuffed in the radio box, it will not affect distance very much
that was my first lesson with savages and the way the it is placed.
the first lid-skid and your antanae wire is mangled

Thanks for the tip, I never thought about that. I don't venture to far away anyway.

Today is a bittersweet day for me. I sold the 1st and 2nd RC I ever bought which was a Savage 25 and a Cen Matrix Arena TR. That's the bitter part. The sweet part is I moved them to fund the purchase of a Savage XL with a OS 30VG motor and another XL roller. I'm also about the put the LRP 30 on the XL I already own and get it broken in as well.

Wasn't today, it was actually yesterday, but I installed the alza racing bulkhead kit on my 4.6, along with an RPM skid plate which fits amazingly well.

On my 25 I completely rebuilt the shocks, put 35 wt up front with 37.5 wt in the rear along with some very cool looking green progressive springs from FFRC that make the truck look awesome and really stand out, but also handle better. Has anyone checked out the bodies from Jconcepts BTW? They're badass looking, I know they're made for electric MT's but they should fit our trucks.

If anyone has a pic of their savage with a JC MT body Id love to see it!

After the Hellfire Tower Mod, I did some minor alterations:

1. Modified stock body posts to fit into the HF towers
2. Trimmed the roll bar handle so I can lower the body shell position
3. Painted the a red accent on the Proline Trifecta wing's wickerbill

Ordered parts for my first mod in my new Savage X 4.6. Got a hump pack, LED battery level indicator, and Y harness for charging connection on the way.

Waiting on a slipper clutch. I bought a used xl 5.9
from ebay. It been one thing after another. Mainly because previous owner didn't take care of it.
I installed a new flywheel, clutch shoes, and robinson racing clutch bell with new bearings. When spinning the spur I noticed it was wobbly. Removed it and found slipper disk was all tore up. Got it on order from RCBOYZ. Then we will be ready to roll.

Clean rig, only thing I have to wonder about is storing it with fuel in the tank???? dump that out and fill it with fresh fuel at least :)

Took a run at trimming the body to fit over the engine protector. This was my first attempt at any body trimming. Started off pretty rough. Eventually ditched the scissors and went with the Dremel and then things started improving. Certainly not a perfect job, but I think I'm more or less satisfied. Happy to have the body riding nice and low now.

HPI sure didn't explain much about how to do that. I wanted the protection for the engine but didn't really expect it would throw things off so much as far as fit of the body. I thought it was odd that the truck came with one extended body post. Just one. With the engine protector on, I could get the body to fit but only with the posts pinned in the highest position. Looked a bit silly, I thought, but I think it's much better now.

Did you guys do similar?

Also installed my hump pack, "Y" switch, and LED battery indicator. Screwed up installing the charger connection behind the rubber grommet though. Unfortunately, the parts didn't come with screws. So I went rummaging through the tool boxes and found a couple of screws that looked like they would work. Inserted the charger connector between the plastic clamp pieces, screwed it in, and thought "that was easy". Then I flipped it over. One of the screws had poked right through the top of my electronics box. Doh!

I'm still evaluating how much my mistake bothers me. Thought about getting a new box but I'll probably just live with it. I get really mad at myself when I'm doing a project to improve one thing and I somehow mess up another. It's even worse because I saw a similar picture on this forum of a fellow who did the exact same thing. I told myself "don't let the screw poke through the box" and then I went ahead and did it. Ugh.

Looking good id just leave the radio box be if it was me. Also I used my engine protector and was able to set the body at its lowest point then treamed out my body.

I trim mine with scissors, the lexan curved ones work really well and are only like 8 bux online or hobby store, after I rough trim with the scissors I finish up with the dremel sanding drum turning at low enuff speed it don't eat away too much too fast....

as for poking a hole in the radio box top a dab of black rtv will make a nice repair....
