Savage XS, What should I know?

Hello, New to the forum.

The past few days I've been kicking ideas around for a project. I'll admit this wasn't my first choice, But more so because I forgot about its existence. I'm looking to possibly find a Savage XS rolling chassis, I think it would look nice next to my Dad and I's reliable old Savage 25's that we've had for the past ten or so years. Is there any major issues with this truck that have to be upgraded out right away? I plan on running on no more than 2S LiPo, Just something small and fun. I've read from here that the slipper clutch is a weak point, but it seems many have upgraded the drive line as well. Is this necessary on 2S? Thanks in advance for input.

From what I have read, when running on 2s, the XS is fairly solid. Save for the slipper, as you pointed out. It's when you move to a 3s battery that the driveline will soon desperately need repairs/ upgrades.

Depending on your budget, @vettehigh is currently selling a like new XS will pretty much all the upgraded driveline parts.

I stand corrected.

I have a savage xs and it's a fun truck. It's already fast enough on 2s lipos. Every time I have tried running it on 3s I could never reach full speed without it flipping on its back. The wheelie bar isn't much help. I am planning to sell mine because I prefer 1/8 scale.

Change to cvd driveshafts, add another set of shocks it's a beast

Also 2.2 proline tyres for get up n go
