Not really sure whats going on. My truck runs fine for about 5 minutes then I loose all remote functions. If I get closer it seems of but not at full throttle. Could it be my LiPo's are low on charge? I'm running 2 3 cells in series for 6 cell. My motor wasn't hot. Checked my connections and they are fine. It seems like one of my LiPo's was pretty low but not sure if that would cause it to do what its doing.

Low batteries can certainly cause loss of range. Though I'm curious how that can happen as there should be a low voltage cutoff on the ESC. Are some of your LiPo cells reading different than the others? Perhaps you have some damaged cells.

Maybe, but the batteries are less than a week old. Ive used them 4 or 5 times. I will say the one battery is doing something a little weird. when I plug my Blinky in it reads 3 steady lights for about 3 seconds and then cuts off and it isn't blinking like its balancing cells. I have plugged and unplugged it 3 or 4 times and it still isn't acting like its balancing. I'm using an Onyx 230 charger with the Astro Blinky balancer.

Also I have my charger set for .20 amps. Should I raise that? I'm just now getting back into RC and I forgot how much to set for my LiPo's.

Take a meter to the balance connector, verify if all of the cells are reading the same voltage. If they are off a little, you can balance charge the battery and you might get it back. Too far off, and the cell (and battery as a whole unless you plan to swap cells) is dead.

What mAh rating does your LiPo have?

You usually do 1C for charging, to be on the safe side. so that's 1 x whatever your capacity is (mAh).

I upped my charge rate to 5.0 amps and they charged fine. I don't know what I was thinking. I never got a complete charge or hell even a partial charge before the charger timed out. Now that I have 2 batteries with a complete charge I'm a little scared to see what its like. It was crazy fast and powerful on partial...... I have a MBX5T that I converted to electric with a Castle Mamba Monster 2. 2- 3 cell and my gearing is 18/46. Should hit 70 mph if I can keep it on the ground.

Before you drive on those, check the cell voltages. I'm worried that running the battery that way could have caused some issues. Fully charged, you should see 4.2V on each cell.

Do you have a multi-meter? Put it in DC voltage mode. Below shows the wiring for several balance connectors. Place the negative probe on the black wires pin, the positive probe on the pin 2. That is cell 1. Then move downward. Negative probe on pin 2, positive on pin 3 for cell 2. Then negative probe on pin 3, positive on pin 4 for cell 3.

Your colors may be different on your battery.

Or, make it really easy and get a low voltage alarm. They plug right into your balance connector and read each cell.

I use this:

I check the black and red on the battery and was reading 12.2 volts. Is this ok. I will check like you said above and report

This is a 3s battery right? Fully charged it should read 12.6V on the main leads.

Yes 3 cell. I tried and don't know if I have my multi meter set wrong or what. I'm an idiot when it comes to electric stuff. I know my astro blinky is saying they are are full but I don't know each cell.

Ok I think I have it...thanks to Youtube..
Battery 1 12.32
cells 4.11, 4.11, 4.09
Battery 2 12.47
cells 4.16,4.15,4.16

Does this look right?

They are a tad undercharged, but they look fine. I might keep an eye on the battery 1, if that cell continues to creep away from the other two you'll need to balance charge the battery a few times to even them out.

If you think that charging with the balancer will help thats what Ill do. I always connect my astro blinky when I charge. Now that I have the charger set right and understand a little better hopefully I can keep them in good shape.

Always use the balance harness when charging if you can help it.
